The overall individual structure is analyzed for Static and Lateral loads due to Earthquake/Wind loads and its combinations. The analysis is conducted using standard software such as STAAD, Etabs and SAFE.
8. DESIGN ASSUMPTIONS
A) The design life of the structure is assumed as 50 years. This requirement is not applicable to replaceable materials. B) All R.C.C. structures will be designed according to the Limit State method as specified in IS: 456-2000. C) The R.C.C. structure is idealized as 3D space frame and analyzed using ETABS, software for both vertical and lateral loads. D) Forces and moments from the analysis output for the worst combinations are used for the design of the structure. E) Design of structural steel members as per IS: 800-1984 F) Expansion joint/strip to be provide at 45.0m (maximum) to control temperature effect. G) Following buildings analyzed and designed with consideration of 1 typical floor provision as per clients request 1) All Academic blocks, 2) Commercial complex, 3) Dispensary, 4) Faculty club, 5) Canteen, 6) Student Mess, 7) Estate Office.

9. CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
1) All units except Auditorium, sports complex etc. have RCC floor slab with RCC beam and slab system or flat slab system. 2) Auditorium, sports complex have m. s. sloping roof structure. 3) Library unit has few structural steel columns with infilled concrete for 15.0 m height. 4) Filling load = All filling in class room/seminar room considered as light weight material filling. (i.e. light weight cinder) 5) Grade of Concrete = M30 For foundation/column/beams/slabs etc. M40 For Post Tensioned beams M25 For Grade slab (Concrete design Mix as per IS 456-2000) M15 (For P.C.C. ) 6) Aggregate = 20mm and down size, mechanically crushed aggregate 7) Reinforcements = Grade Fe500 as per IS 1786. (To be tested before use) 8) Cement = Grade 43 9) Minimum column width Single / two storey building =230mm More than two storey building =300 mm 10 ) Minimum beam width = 230 mm 11) Masonry work = Aercon AAC Block. (100mm/200mm thk.) 12) Expansion J oint = Provide Expansion joint for Acadamic unit, Admin Unit, Type A, Type B, Married student hostel. 13) Temperature Analysis = Temperature analysis required for library unit. 10. DEFLECTION LIMITS
The deflection limits under serviceability loads of a building or a building component should be as per related IS codes (i.e. for RCC structure IS 456-2000 and steel structure IS 800-2007).
11. CRACK WIDTH CONSIDERATION (Reference - as per IS 456-2000 clause no. 35.3.2 )
Maximum surface crack width for all structures except water/liquid retaining structures =0.3mm. Water retaining structures =0.2 mm
12. MATERIAL
The self-weight of the various elements are computed based on the built weight of materials as given below (based on IS: 875 (part 1)-1987 and general construction practice)
The minimum clear cover to main reinforcement shall be as follows (as per IS 456-2000.)- Footings = bottom =75mm, sides =75mm, Retaining wall = 40mm, Raft Slab = 40mm, Plinth beams = Bottom =50mm, sides =40mm Floor beams = Bottom/side =40mm, Floor slabs = 25mm.

Fire rating consideration All external exposed structural members should design with consideration of 2 hours Fire Rating and all internal members design for 1.5 hours Fire Rating.
Exposure Condition All external exposed structural members should design with consideration of Moderate exposure and all internal members design with Mild exposure condition.
