LAHORE: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari
on Thursday said the politics of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is
just a water bubble and that his sponsors are someone else.

While appreciating the suggestions of the office-bearers and workers of Faisalabad division who
met Asif Zardari here at Bilawal House, the PPP co-chairman said that the party has to put the
country on the trajectory of progress.

He further said that his party and him had to think of providing such a large population of 300
million health, education facilities and also create job opportunities. He added that the PPP
represents the poor segments of society and, therefore, had to take steps to control the price hike
which had been squeezing them dry.

He observed that earlier, it was not the season for politician so he had not turned up in Lahore.
Now that it is the season of politics he is here, he said, adding he has decided to resurrect Bilawal
House Lahore on the pattern of Bilawal House Karachi to serve as the working headquarters of
the party at all the times.

Zardari recalled that during the PPP government, Pakistans textile exports were $9 billion and
they had touched $14 billion at the end of the term. The propitious policies of the then
government had brought prosperity to both farmers and industrialists. The increase in the price
Phutti (cotton) at the time also led to another good source of income for the rural economy.

Zardari said that the Dajal held back the efficiency of the government by issuing excessive
stay orders which lost the advantages of time and good decisions. He said that there was no
political prisoner during the PPP government because the party had buried the politics of
victimisation for all times to come. Democracy is the best revenge is the stated policy of the
party, he maintained.

He recalled that he spent 11 years in jail but did not compromise on principles. He mentioned that
Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was handed out many offers to compromise but he refused to avail
such offers for the sake of democracy, poor people and instead opted to sacrifice his life because
he did not want to die in history.

He maintained that he was accountable for the blood of martyrs on the Day of Judgment shed for
the cause of democracy and, therefore, he could not afford to compromise on democracy and
rights of the poor people.

Zardari told the office-bearers and workers that the party will decide about general elections in
the country and he would let them know the timeframe of forthcoming polls, adding that the PPP
would emerge as the biggest party by securing the unprecedented electoral victory.

The meeting of the Fasialabad division was organised by the PPP Punjab chapter which was
heavily attended by the office-bearers and the party workers.Punjab Secretary General Tanvir
Ashraf Kaira conducted the meeting. In his introductory remarks, PPP Punjab President Mian
Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo urged the participants to give their suggestions to the co-chairman
regarding the organisation of the party and also their efforts in connection with the chairmans
public meeting in Karachi on October 18.He thanked the co-chairman for providing the
participants generous time for the meeting in which all the participants expressed their views and
submitted valuable suggestions freely.
