Jake falls asleep in his bed; wakes up in a
forest with a welcome mat next to him, on
the mat is a cell phone and a hammer or a
chisel. The cell phone has a video from the
antagonist, stating the challenge that the
boy must take otherwise he will be killed in
60 seconds.
Target audience (age group, gender, bias (if
any) socio-economic status and lifestyle
profiling):
15+ (15-48), all genders and all ethnicities.
Therefore theyll be able to interact with the
film and contain suspense feelings.
Possible scheduling/ publishing suggestions: A trailer would be shown before the movie in
a cinema, and the trailer will be advertised
on television.
What comparable products have you
researched?
Horror and thriller films, filled with suspense.
Such as, Saw Chuckie Insideous
What is the rationale behind this text? The concept of this film is to entertain the
audience group by giving them something
that is full of suspense. The challenge is a
very cruel and sensitive topic, so this will be
able to give the audience chills and leave
them on a cliff-hanger.
What representations will be operating in
your text?
Are these justified?
The protagonist, Jake, will be perceived as
devious and quite rebellious. Therefore this
will show the type of arrogance he holds,
and will make the film more intriguing.
How will you test your product is successful?
How will you check that it accomplishes the
intended effect?
I will test the production by showing the film
to our target audience, along with
presenting questionnaires during the film.
This way they can answer the questions
while watching the production and we will
be able to improve our film by the results.
What generic codes and conventions will be
operating in your text?
Settings: Hainault forest.
Props will include a welcome mat, a
hammer, a chisel and a cell phone.
What are the overt (obvious) messages
incorporated into the text?
Be prepared for the unexpected.
Namrah Siddique
Are there any hidden messaged incorporated
into the text?
What goes around comes around.
Identify any resource constraints
(time, money, equipment, human resources)
that might affect your production and your
hopes for the production:
Time is mainly the resource, as we will have
to juggle through everyone elses timetable.
No money will be involved; the only human
resources will be the hammer, the chisel and
the cell phone.
