Fall Decorative Items: Mini-pumpkins, gourds, mini-Indian corn, Strawberry corn and hay bales are moving fast! We WATCH Cantaloupe: DEMAND FAR EXCEEDS SUPPLY and prices are being reflected. Central California is finished and we moved to Central Arizona but heavy rains halted production. Note: Honeydews are still reasonable and the flavor is peaking.
Strawberries: The California strawberry crop has been the subject of multiple Acts of God in- cluding drought, hot tem- peratures and a labor short- age. As a result, demand exceeds supply.
Blackberries: We are dodging weather and production issues to bring you the best quality but prices are high on these berries.
Asparagus: Prices remain high but relief is in sight as the new crop comes onboard in the next few weeks from Mexico.
Cucumbers: Weather has caused shortages but the new crop is coming on board from Georgia and North Carolina but wont be ready until next week.
Sugar Snap Peas: Tight supplies for both are causing prices to remain at the high end of the spectrum on these.
Peeled Garlic: Prices remain very high due to customs inspections.
KEEP IN MIND Raspberries: Producing regions are Baja, Oxnard, Watsonville, Santa Maria and Salinas. Supplies are increasing and quality is very good. Varietal shifts have contributed to higher quality yields. Conventional production is forecasted to increase during October.
Avocados: We are now firmly into the Mexican avocado crop with slightly reduced prices. Grapes: Market remains firm on all varieties. There is a good amount to pick but growers are waiting on good color and sugar.
Artichokes: Fair supplies with excellent quality. Prices are steady.
Green Onions & Cilantro: Green onions market recovered. The cilantro supplies are plentiful this week with the recent warm weather.
