COURSE NAME : GEOLOGY AND DRILLING LABORATORY
COURSE CODE : CGE558
PROGRAM : EH223
SEMESTER : 3
CREDIT HOURS : 1
CONTACT HOURS : 3
COURSE STATUS : CORE
PREREQUISITE : NIL

2.0 SYNOPSIS
This module is designed with series of laboratory exercises that will
supplement to lectures and offer practical experience to equip the students
with a basic understanding of the concepts and method in drilling and geology.
Students will be introduced to exploration techniques and tools that geologists
and geophysicists use, such as correlation, mapping, and analyzing minerals in
rock samples. Exercises throughout the course also provide a practical
experience with mud handling to determine the densities, rheology properties,
and mud contamination.

3.0 COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Apply the concept in drilling mud properties measurement in order to
perform related experiment.
2. Analyze the effect of chemicals contamination to the drilling fluid.
3. Apply the concept and techniques in geology through volume estimation
also rocks and minerals identification.

4.0 METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
Laboratory experiments & Consultation
