Associate Represented major client, Omnipoint, in transactional matters and before the FCC and Congress in one of the most contested and valuable mobile telecommunications licenses in the U.S. Impacted legal rulings in the early stages of the Internets development via skilled representation of Internet providers before the FCC. Led client through FCC auctions for commercial wireless licenses. Representative clients: Omnipoint; MCI; McKinsey & Company; PSiNet; UUNet; and the Commercial Internet Exchange.
Successfully persuaded Congress to amend the Communications Act and obtained the FCC license for the client, despite opposition from multiple large competitors. Spearheaded impact on FCC proceedings to establish new rules and regulations supporting U.S. mobile carriers entry into cellular markets. Led efforts to ensure Internet access providers rights to telephone networks on a flat-rate basis. Participated in review of equity and debt mechanisms, including vendor financing, joint ventures, and initial public offering.
