Nomenclature and Notation
Throughout this course we will use a common nomenclature,
consistent with the required texts, except where noted.
Lecture content can be found on the course Web site with all symbols
defned at the beginning of the summary lecture notes.
It is important to be comfortable working with quantities of difering
rank:
scalars (e.g. pressure ),
vectors (e.g. velocity ), and
tensors (e.g. stress ).
