These calculations outline the procedure and calculations necessary to
det ermi ne the increase or decrease in equi val ent mud weight ( bot t omhol e
pressure) due to pressure surges caused by pulling or r unni ng pipe. These
calculations assume t hat the end of the pipe is pl ugged (as in r unni ng casing
with a float shoe or drill pipe with bit and j et nozzles in place), not
open-ended.
