Gagne Teaching Step P & P Activities Theory/Model Approach Strategy Method/ Technique

1) Studentss
attention to
learning
Teacher:
Play the video titled
Butterflys colour song
and let the students
watch. The teacher will
then ask some
questions towards the
student
Student:
Listen and watch the
video with full
attention. During the
video, they are required
to identify the colours
that are being showed
in the video.
Information
processing model.
This is because the
students will be
learning through the
video and remember
the colours when
learning take place.
Memory of the
students can be seen
after the learning
process.
Thematic
approach. This
thematic
approach is
often used in
teaching
general topic
Material-centred is
being used in this
activity. A video is
showed to the
students and both
teacher and
students are
involved in this
activity.
Teacher plays the Butterflys
colour song towards the
students. Students listen and
watch the video and identify the
colours that are being showed
in the video.
2) Informing Learners
of the Objective
Teacher:
Inform the students
that they are going to
learn about colours and
how to relate colours to
people and animals. The
students will also learn
about pronouncing the
sounds o as in top and
torn.
Teacher will ask the
students to examine the
images that are printed
Expository Teaching
Model is being used
in this stage. Teacher
will introduce and
explain about the
learning content
while students will
listen to him and
make important
points out of it.
Integrative
approach.
Students are
directed to
read, identify
and draw in this
lesson.
Teacher centred.
This is because the
teacher plays a
primary and active
role while the
students play a
passive role as
listeners or
audience.

on the first page of the
unit and ask them
questions.

Student:
Bring out their textbook
and read out the
objectives that are
written on the textbook.
They are required to
answer the teachers
question after reading
the objectives.
3) Stimulating Recall
of Prior Learning
Teacher:
Match the names of the
colours with the things
around the student.
Review any previous
learning that he has
done with the students
and apply it to the
current learning.
Students:
Answer the questions
while recalling back
what they had learn
before.

Social Model has
taken place. Group
teaching is effective
for this topic as it will
save up times and
the brighter pupils
will guide the slow-
learners while
teacher can observe
from in front of the
classroom.
Integrative
approach.
Language skills
and art skills are
included in this
stage.
Students centred.
It places
importance in
carrying out
students activities
in small groups.
Students will be
able to be more
innovative and
creative, and often
take their own
initiative to learn.
Teacher will ask the students to
form groups and describe the
colour on their pencil boxes and
bags. Teacher then ask them to
bring out colour pencils and
colour the drawing that they
have done in the previous
lesson. (For example, animals)
4) Presenting the
Stimulus
Teacher:
This is a summarizing
activity. Teacher will ask
the students to recite a
poem from the text that
are related to feelings,
moods and emotions.
Teacher will recite the
poem first and then the
students will follow the
rhythm.
Students:
Students are asked to
read out the poem
loudly with correct
intonation and
pronunciation.
They need to identify
the colours in the poem
and relate them to how
they feel. Example: Blue
refers to calmness.
They also need to list
out other colours that
can relate to feelings
and emotions.
Cognitive theory is
showed. Gagnes
taxonomy of
Learning showed
that a principle is
form with more
concepts.
Inductive
approach.
Teacher will
group every
colours together
and arrives at a
generalization.
Teacher-centred.
Teacher will do all
the explanations
and students will
only listen to it.
Teacher will simplified the
differences between every
colour that is mentioned in the
textbook into a graphic
organiser. He will give examples
towards the students and make
into conclusion.
5) Providing Learning
Guidance
Teacher:
Provide a Question &
Answer session for the
students. The teacher
will ask the students
some questions after
they had understood
the poem. Example:
What will it be like if
there are no colours in
their lives?
Students:
In this session, students
may ask questions
regarding to the topic
and text. They need to
understand the full text
completely in order to
proceed to another
task.

6) Eliciting
Performance

7) Providing
Feedback

8) Assessing
Performance

9) Enhancing
Retention and
Transfer
