Apuntes 2.3.5- Preterit tense AR verbs

Remember that some verbs are irregular (both in the past and present
tenses). The verb “ir,” which means “to go,” is irregular.

IR (to go)- present tense

I go We go

You go

He goes They/ you all go

IR (to go)- preterit tense

I went We went

You went

He went They/ you all went

Most verbs, however, follow a set pattern in the preterit tense- just like in
the present tense. These are the endings for regular –ar verbs in the
preterit.
