2. WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE COMMUNITY

As a Central Board Members (Narrative Report)

I was the chairman of the Senior Planning Board. I went to different municipalities of Ilocos Sur to lend a
hand to the indigent residents of each municipality. Feeding Program, Gift-Giving to Lolos and Lolas and
Tree planting are some of the services I gave to our community. I took this not because it was my duty
but because I wanted to do something that matters and different. It was such a great responsibility but
all of my sacrifices and efforts are worth because I know to myself that I could might encourage my
fellow that being a leader makes you whole. I was also the President of the GSP of our school and so far I
was the youngest one who held the responsibility but I allowed no one to make me stop believing that I
could handle the girls though my age is younger than some. I expected to be hard for me but I made it
possible for I know that age doesnt matter when we talk about willingness to lead. This positivity built
me the confidence a leader must have. Our school has the most numbered GSP members in Ilocos Sur.

As Chief Girl Scout Medalist (Narrative Report of the Project Done)

My troop leader discussed the Chief Girl Scout Medal Scheme (CGSMS) Projects to me. After accepting
the challenge of becoming a CGSMS candidate I attended the orientation at the Ilocos Sur Council.
Afterwhich, my troop leader asked permission and cooperation from the parents, principal of the school,
barangay officials. Out of the three (3) surveyed needs of the barangay, they have chosen the Putting Up
of Herbal Garden at Paguraper, Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur. The requirements of CGSMS Projects are the
basis and guide in the planning of putting up the project. I started to work together with my troop
leader, workgroup, parents, the barangay officials and organizations, ISNHS Girl Scout and leaders. The
planning includes the preparation of the site, acquisition of the herbal plants and schedule of
maintenance of the herbal garden. I initiated the Putting Up of Herbal Garden through the guidance of
my troop leader. My parents, barangay officials and organization have given their full participation and
cooperation in the realization of the garden by cleaning the area, planting of seedlings, acquisition of
more plants and trees and following the schedule of watering, cleaning and weeding. After the
regional evaluation on April 24, 2014, my troop leader, my parents and the barangay officials started to
plan for the date of turning over the herbal project to the community. Finally, the Herbal Garden was
turned over to the community leaders on April 29, 2014. There was regular evaluation of the monthly
accomplishments and passing of monthly requirements to the Ilocos Sur Council. There was also a visit
of my project by titas and girl scouts. Prior to the regional evaluation, there were pre-evaluation council
visits of the project. I had a diary to record the different monthly accomplishments from July 2013 to
May 2014. Monthly reports were submitted and filed at the council and logbook. The Putting Up of
Herbal Garden in our community had ignited and strengthened my working attitude to be of service in
our barangay. It provided an avenue to develop camaraderie and cooperation among the folks and my
family. The project also had been source of information about the use of the plants around us in the
maintenance of good health and prevention of diseases.
