Invisible Children
Tuesday, April 9, 9:50-11:05am
Room 401
Can a story change the world? In the spring of
2003, three young Americans traveled to Africa
in search of such a story. What they
found was a tragedy that disgusted and inspired
them. A story where children are the weapons
and the victims. The “Invisible Children:
Rough Cut” film exposes the effects of a 20-
year-long war on the children of Northern
Uganda, children who live in fear of abduction
by rebel soldiers and are being forced to fight
as part of a violent army. The documentary is
fast paced is truly unique.
This past month marked the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. The war is a stark reminder
of our great need for finding nonviolent means to resolve minor and major problems. Service for
Peace, a student organization on campus, invites everyone to come and reflect on the need for peace
in ourselves and the world around us through the creation of “poetic peace lines” on cloths and
stones. These lines will be compiled and turned into a cento, a patchwork poem.
