Question of the Week in the light of todays liturgy
(2nd November)

When I think of the word Saint, who, apart from those
formally canonized, comes to mind as someone whose
sanctity touched my life? How did she/he do that?
You are now able to access the parish newsletter from our twitter
feed (@olgcga).
This involves the use of a new programme for us, so please bear
with us if we have some teething problems!!!!
We would like to acknowledge our gratitude to the
family of the late Stephen Wild, whose funeral took
place here a few weeks ago, for the donation of 250 for
the good works of the parish.

away from the church for a while and now want to
make a fresh start.
Seeking Christ is for those who want to look at

THE NEW YORK MARATHON
& THE GOOD LIFE ORPHANAGE

This weekend (2nd November), Sinead
Hayes (Mary & Kevins daughter) will be taking part in
the New York Marathon raising funds for the Good Life Orphanage.
There are two ways in which you can sponsor Sinead:
1. There is a sponsor sheet at the back of Church.
2. You can go to her Just-giving page at www.justgiving.com/
Sinead-Maguire0/ and pledge your sponsorship there (and you
are able to gift-aid your sponsorship money by doing it this way)

Thank you to all those who have already sponsored Sinead, and GOOD
LUCK Sinead. Many thanks Fr Paul.
Bury Samaritans
Have you ever considered becoming a volunteer for the Samari-
tans? Or have you thought that the Samarians do a wonderful job but
this is something that I could not do? However if you have the ability to
listen and be with people at difficult times in their lives then you could
be just the right person. The overarching aim of the Samaritans is to
reduce the suicide rate amongst people of all ages in the United King-
dom and Ireland.
If you would like to know more about the work of the Samaritans
that might help you to consider joining them as a volunteer then please
think about coming along to our next Information Evening.
This Information Session will be held at Bridge House, 13
Knowsley Street (opposite the clock tower) on Wednesday 18
th

November at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
Maintenance Daylast Saturday
Can I say a very big thank you to everyone

ple, but it was half-term, but it was difficult
finding another suitable weekend.
A great deal of work was don, and a very pleasant chippy
lunch was had! Many thanks once more. Fr Paul.

NOVEMBER
THE MONTH OF REMEMBRANCE
and the ANNUAL MASS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE
BEEN BEREAVED DURING THE LAST TWELVE
MONTHS.

Our Annual Mass with the Bereaved will take place on
Sunday 23rd November at the 10.30am Mass. During the
Mass we will remember by name all those whose funerals
have taken place here since last November. We have written
to all the families that have had a funeral here at Guardian
Angels since November last year.

We are also always conscious that
members of our parish suffer bereave-
ment, but perhaps their parent or family
member lived away from here so, if you
would like us to pray for a member of your
family who has died in the past 12 months
at our Annual Mass for the Bereaved,
please complete the tear off slip below and
return it to the Parish Office no later than
Wednesday 19th November (so that lists
can be typed up etc).
Also, throughout the Month of November we will
have our customary Book of Remembrance at the front of
Church, where you can write in the names of your loved
ones who have died, and we are all able to pray for each
others loved ones.

The Weekend of Eucharistic Adoration (21st-23rd November).
Each year I suggest that it would be a good thing for all of
our different ministries and parish groups to arrange a specific time
over the weekend when they come together to the time of adoration
for a time of silent prayer together. A couple of our ministries and
groups have begun to do this.
With a couple of weeks to go before the weekend of Adora-
tion, now would be a good time to start organising it and letting
everyone know the details about it in your group or ministry.
All Saints Year A
If you wish to contribute to the View from the
Pew, please contact the Parish Office.
These are anonymous comments from
parishioners.

Our psalm refrain today sums up what
this day is all about: such are the people who seek your
face, 0o Lord. The saints we celebrate today all longed
to see the Lords face. They are among the white-robed
throng in the reading from Revelation, and they are the
ones who lived the Beatitudes from todays Gospel. We
can join them if we too long to see the Lords face.
Having your child baptised.
If you are planning on having your child
baptised, please pick up a leaflet from the
Welcome and Information centre, which
outlines our baptism preparation
programme.
Please note that the first thing that parents have to do is con-
tact the Parish Office (telephone on 0161 764 1630 or call in) to
book onto the First Meeting, held on the first Sunday of each
month. This means that our Baptism Preparation Team have a
workable number of people.

Fr Denis McBrides latest
book:

PRAYING THE ROSARY
A journey through scripture
and art.

Copies of this new book only
arrived in the Parish Office a
week ago, so it is still hot off the
press! We have had time to look
through it and feel that it would
be a real support in praying the
rosary, individually, or as a group. We would highly recom-
mend this book to you.
The format of the book is simple:
1. First there is a reading from the New Testament
2. This is followed by a meditation on the scripture
passage
3. A painting is then included which offers its own take
on the subject
4. There is a brief reflection on the painting
5. Finally there is a prayer on some aspect of the
mystery.
There are copies of Fr Denis new book on sale on the table at
the back of Church this weekend, and available from the Par-
ish Office during the week.
12.95 a copy (136 pages)

OTHER BOOKS AT THE BACK OF CHURCH
For one more weekend there is an opportunity to
browse and buy some of the books we have for sale. There
are books on various topics.
Have a look at them, and if you havent got money
with you today, the person on the bookstall will gladly fill in
your details and we will invoice you for anything you take
away.
Enjoy browsing and get yourself a good book!
