SKF TMMC

The CARB Bearing Puller

Instructions for use
1. Description
The SKF TMMC pullers are especially designed for dismounting
CARB bearings in drying cylinders. To avoid "self locking" the
CARB requires the pulling force to be applied to the outer ring.
Hence, the arms of the SKF TMMC puller will be inserted between the
rollers and grip on the back of the outer ring.

3. Dismounting instructions of the CARB in drying
cylinders
1. Dismount the end cover and remove the inboard cover.
2. Unload the bearing by gently lifting the cylindrical journal. The
bearing is unloaded when all bearing rollers can be moved by hand.
3. Reposition the SKF lock nut 3 - 4 mm (0,1 - 0,2 in) from the bearing
(see figure 1). Do not remove the SKF locking nut!
4. Release the bearing from the shaft by using the SKF oil injection
method (see figure 1).
5. Dismount the lock nut.
6. Insert the three puller arms, in positions approximately 4,8 and 12
oclock, between the bearing cage and the outer ring. Connect the
puller arms to the puller plate (see figure 2).
7. Extract the bearing by applying force on the puller plate (if necessary
by use of the dismounting screws).
Figure 1. Reposition the lock nut before releasing the bearing from the shaft.
Figure 2. Insertion of the puller arms between bearing cage and the outer ring.
