District Technology Vision:
The mission of Henry County Schools is to be committed to ensuring educational
success for each student. The districts vision is to move from good (ensuring each
student meets or exceeds gradelevel performance standards) to great (ensuring
each student graduates high school prepared for further learning). Henry County
Schools believes that technology is not what drives school improvement but is a tool
that enables and accelerates it. Our vision is to provide, assist and support
stakeholders in their use of technology to achieve our commitment of ensuring
success through greater flexibility, increased productivity, increased support of
standardsbased instruction, improved response to accountability, and expanded
opportunities for student learning, professional development, communication and
feedback.
ISTE Standards:
1. Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and
assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize
content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes
identified in the Standards.
a. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools
and resources to promote student learning and creativity

Instructional Goal:
The participant will design and develop a variety of learning experiences, including
an assessment, using ActivInspire and content resources.
Measureable Learner Outcomes:

Using current content, the participant will use ActivInspire to create relevant
learning experiences that link new information to the student's prior
knowledge
Using current content, the participant will use ActivInspire to create an
interactive lesson to activate the student's interest and curiosity
Using current content, the participant will use ActivInspire to create a digital
interactive assessment

The participants have already received a workshop on the use of basic ActivInspire
tools. I want to incorporate Understanding by Design processes along with the use
of smart boards/ActivInspire. Many teachers of students with intellectual
disabilities are receiving smart boards/ActivInspire and using them as glorified
projectors. If the smart boards are used appropriately they can be a vital tool to
facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity, and to explore real-world
issues and solve authentic problems using digital tools and resources.
Henry County requires all Intellectual Disabled Programs to use the Unique
Curriculum with students in the program. The content provided in the Unique
Curriculum gives students in the Intellectual Disabled setting access to the Georgia
Performance Standards. Every month the Unique curriculum provides a topic,
content, along with access to standards that will be covered. I would like to guide
the participants through the following process:

Pre-Assessment Interactive Whiteboard Proficiency Rubric

Examine the Unique monthly topic and standards and determine the big
idea and goals for the unit.

Consider what evidence will determine if the students have attained the
goals and understand the big idea and create an assessment using the
smart board/ActivInspire to assess if desired learning has been achieved.

Self-assess with checklist

Consider what knowledge and/or skill the student will need in order to
perform and achieve the goals for the unit. Create an activity/lesson using
smart board/ActivInspire to present knowledge and skills to link or activate
prior knowledge.

Self-assess with checklis

Consider what knowledge and/or skill the student will need in order to
perform and achieve the goals for the unit and create an instructional
activity/lesson using smart board/ActivInspire to equip students with the
needed knowledge and skill to achieve goals for unit.

Participants will share activities on Promethean Board and complete peer

assessments using the self-assessment checklist rubric.
