COURSE ASSIGNMENT
You are to choose ONE (1) topic from a particular subject (i.e. Mathematics, English, etc.) and
assess students achievement of learning outcomes for the topic. The steps are as follows:
(1)
(2)
(3)
(4)

(5)
(6)
(7)
(8)
(9)

Choose a topic from a particular subject to be assessed.

Write down THREE (3) learning outcomes for the topic.
Prepare Test Specification Table (TST) to assess the learning outcomes.
Prepare SIX (6) objective questions (2 for each Learning Outcome) with answers; and
ONE (1) subjective question with answer rubric [based on FIVE (5) levels of answer
quality]. Give ONE (1) mark for each objective question and FOUR (4) marks for the
subjective question (total of 10 marks).
Administer the test, mark both objective and subjective questions, and add up the marks
for each student.
Do item analysis (Item Difficulty, Discrimination & Distraction Indices).
Explain why each question is either very simple/very difficult, or has low discrimination
index, or has low distraction index. Suggest how to improve each of the weak questions.
Prepare an assessment report for each student ranking from highest mark to lowest mark.
Include sample answer paper of ONE (1) student.

Notes: (a) You may administer the test to at least 20 students (more is better).
(b) You may do the assignment in group of maximum three (3) students.
