Helping current and former street children in Haiti improve their lives
Zanmi Lakay's 4th Annual Jouk Li Jou Kan Foto - Youth Photo Camp - 2014
During our most aggressive program yet concentrating on business, employment
opportunities, and computer classes, 28 students shot over 7000 images including
some excellent photo stories, working together with 11 hardworking volunteers from
the U.S. and Haiti. We established a Computer Lab and included additional training,
12 more students passed Guy's Business Class, we had guest speakers, personal
counseling, indoor and outdoor studio instruction, daily workshops and slideshows.
We gave away our second DSLR camera kit, had a Postcard Competition and the
winner won a new camera, introduced portfolios and resumes, talked about important
issues during Photo Discussion Day at Hotel Cyvadier, worked together during hours
of daily one on one editing sessions, and taught a workshop on photographing art
(whew!). Student video interviews and photos were included in our final multi-media
piece presented during our Community Celebration and outdoor wrap party. Our
students accomplished so much, rising to all challenges, and created amazing work!
All of them asked for more training more often, and we want to make that happen.

EBSC's 22nd annual
Every child enrolled in our Program has continually been sponsored, and this is a
huge relief for their families. Capacity for the School Sponsorship Program is 50, and
we hope to reach that goal for the next school year. It is $300 to sponsor a specific
child, or donations can be made to the general fund. We are especially grateful for our
Program Director in Haiti, Joel Petion, who visits families, pays school fees, and takes
great photos of the kids! We couldn't run this program without him!

Coming soon! By popular demand, were going to offer online ordering of a select
group of images from the Jouk Li Jou Kan Foto and Kanaval Workshop archives. We
are building small business opportunities for our students to earn money from their
work, and they will receive proceeds from print sales. The website is being set up now
and well announce its launch on Zanmi Lakay's Blog and Facebook Page.
