BROTHER AND SISTER

When the mother to the two kids died their step mother would beat them up every day
and deny them good food. Throughout their life she hunted them down and gave them a
miserable life. However, in the long-run she was killed and the two children lived joyfully from
then on. One day the little brother felt fed up by the treatment, took his little sisters hand and
they went out in the world in search of the denied happiness. They walked the whole day and by
time evening came they reached a huge forest, and since they were so fatigued and starving they
fell asleep in a hollow tree.
The next day when they woke up the sun was already up in the sky and the little brother
was feeling so thirsty. They began their mission in search of a brook to kill the thirst. However,
the cruel step mother was a witch and on realizing that the two kids had run away she bewitched
all the springs in the forest. Every time the children got to a spring it would start singing on how
whoever would drink the water would transform to an animal creature. They kept searching for a
better spring but every time they would be frustrated. When finally the little boy drank the water
he changed to a young roebuck.
With sorrow she tied her golden garter around the roebucks neck promising never to
leave each other. They continued walking until they came across a little house deeper into the
forest which they transformed to be their home. They lived happily together with the little girl
feeding on berries, nuts and roots while roe fed on soft grass. It later happened that the king was
carrying out a vast hunt in that forest. The barks by the dogs as well merry shouts by huntsmen
excited the roebuck that day after day he begged the little sister to let him out. The huntsmen
were overwhelmed by his beauty but he was so fast for them. They created a pass-word that the
roe would use for the sister to open the door for him in the evening.

This did not go on for long since they were identified by the king who came and asked
little for her hand in marriage. The girl got married to the king but since she could not leave the
roebuck behind she went with him and they all lived happily. However, the wicked step mother
and her ugly daughter were jealous of them.
One day it happened that when the king was out hunting his wife gave birth to baby boy.
The witch changed herself to chamber-maid. She lied to the queen to go take a shower but
instead in the bath-room she had made a fire that suffocated her. Unknown to no one else except
the witch the queen was replaced by the ugly daughter as the wife to the king. However the truth
was finally known. The witch was burnt down while the ugly daughter was taken to the forest
and torn into pieces by the wild beasts. The queen by Gods grace received back her health
while on the other hand the roebuck transformed back to human flesh.
In conclusion, we learn that we dont earn anything good by hurting anyone in the
society. Instead we should hold close each other.
