Q&A of a warm-up/cool-down = importance of


Stages of each = warm-up, pulse raiser and stretches
Cool down = recovery (light) activity and stretches
~ Groups of 3; line up in groups along length of hall. One shuttle per group.
Person 1 side steps across hall with shuttle and places it opposite his/her group
and side steps back. Person 2 collects it, and then person 3 repeats the first
stage (both side-stepping).
~ Whole body stretches = teacher led. Q&A on knowledge of muscles.

~ SAFETY IN BADMINTON = rackets, shuttles, posts and nets, jewelry, laces

~ SET UP OF COURTS = teacher led to whole group. (Post in holes double


hooks ( ) always facing the football pitch. Attach net (by loop in the string) to
the post nearest the main door first, then take another end towards double hook
and do a figure of eight.

~ ORIGIN/HISTORY OF GAME = thought to have originated in either France


or Britain ~ 16th Century/ 17th Century. First played with string board rackets
with short handles and varied hitting objects. Evolved to present day.
Racquets have had cat gut strings, synthetic strings; shuttles now made with
geese feathers or plastic with synthetic or cork base. Recent successful
countries are Far Eastern (Malaysia; Korea although Western Countries are
getting more successful.
