Wales 2013
Lonely Planet has voted coastal Wales, the greatest region on earth to visit in
2012. The opening of the Wales Coast Path in May will mean that Wales will be
one of the only countries in the world where visitors can walk the entire coastline
along way marked trails - that's 870 miles (1,400km) of stunning coastline to
explore!
Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country in the world
641 and still counting!
The impressionist collection at the National Museum Cardiff is the largest outside
Paris, and includes paintings by Renoir, Van Gogh, Manet and Monet.
Walking all 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path involves approximately
35,000 feet of ascent and descent higher than Mount Everest (29,029 feet), but
theres no altitude sickness.
Sir Edmund Hillary and his team trained in the Snowdonia mountains before the
first successful ascent of Mt Everest.
