Hello awesome artists!
One of the coolest things I get to do as a publisher
is to meet other artists. It always amazes me
how much talent is out there silently creating
incredible pieces of art. I am a life-long learner
as are most creative people I have met. We tend
to push boundaries, challenge processes and to
be bored with the status quo. The pursuit of high
quality education specific to digital art creation
leads down many venues. I was always looking
for a way to tap into a variety of top artists in
our field but it became increasingly expensive to travel to conferences
and workshops. Average expenses for a conference or a workshop always
was about 2,500 dollars and took a week to ten days out of the studio. I
was generally limited to two a year by time or monetary resources. A
big challenge for me is always choosing which conference to go to and
which conferences will I have to skip? Choosing between WPPI, PPA, State
conferences, Photocon, IDMAA, NOTACON, ADAAF..the list goes on ad
infinitum. The choices are wide and varied but still rather pricey. Choosing
between a large conference with a huge list of opportunities or a smaller
more intimate workshop where I can dive deeper into a specific topic is also
a big challenge.
At Digital Art Creation magazine we like the idea of being able to study
with a variety of artists for short intense periods of time. The 2013 Digital
Art Summit gives us that opportunity. We have a really great line up of top
artists that you can study, all from your own home. You can even watch all
of them for less than two nights hotel at a regular conference. An even
bigger bonus in my opinion is that you dont have to worry about taking
all of the notes yourself. Each of these webinars is recorded and stored
in the cloud so you can access them when you are ready to tackle the
specific technique you were looking at. You can watch the webinars at your
convenience at a later date even if you cant make the original date of the
recording.
So I hope you enjoy this issue of Digital Art Creation. This is a special issue
that is designed to get your creative thought process flowing. In the pages
following you will see work from the amazing group of artist that will be
presenting during this years Digital Art Summit. We have included the
schedule of each artist in the table of contents; a description of each
webinar and samples of their work is also included on each artists profile.
All of the webinars will be at 8 PM Central and as mentioned they will all be
recorded, the recordings are included with your tickets. Tickets are on sale

LOIS STANFIELD
Lois Stanfield grew up
loving animals. If childhood
holds the blueprint for ones
destiny in life, then it was
obvious what she would
grow up to be. At the young
age of 4 while growing up
in Bellerose, NY, she was
already drawing pictures
of horses and dogs on
whatever media she could
findpaper, sea shells or
whateverand selling them
to a kindly neighbor woman
down the street for a nickel
or a glass of milk with a
cookie or two.
After two years of college
in New York with a major in

quit school and headed
for Los Angeles, California.
She met her first husband,
a gifted photographer,
while working at Art Center
College of Design and
began taking evening
courses in photography.
Together with her husband,

to school at San Francisco
State University, studying
Creative Writing, Music,
college with classes in
Art and Photography. She

numerous publishers. Her favorite part of
this career was creating photographic art
and design for book covers. As a hobby
on the side, she photographed horses and
landscapes.
Eventually Loiss love of photography,
digital art and animals evolved into a
full-time career that overshadowed her
graphic design business, and she shifted
into her dream career as an Equine and
Pet Photographer/Artist. Always looking for
artistic ways to work with her photographs,
Photoshop became her best friend . . .
until she discovered Corel Painter in 2004.
This was the artistic tool she had been
searching for, and shes never looked
back.

to be a surprise wedding
present for the daughter.
She asked if I could make
it look as if it was in an
English Country Scene,
like those depicted by the
painter John Constable. In
addition she did not want
the daughter to know I
had photographed her or
anything about it until she
received it on the wedding
day...
This webinar shows how
I achieved this and the
steps in the process. The

self-taught artist raised in

He began his career in
photography as a research
scientist at the Kodak
Ltd Research Laboratory
in London in 1962 . He
became a lecturer for
Kodak and for 5 years
taught photographic
technology to students
from all over the world. He
moved to Salisbury in 1972
and became a professor in
photography. He started a
part time portrait business
and his first client was ExPrime Minister Sir Anthony

professor at California State University


for four years and then worked in
Arizona for the famed Gittings Portrait
studio. In in 1988 he gave a lecture to
400 photographers at the Western State
Convention and Ernest Brooks saw his
work and invited him to put up a one man
show at the Brooks Institute. Ernest brooks
insisted Campbell enter in the PP of A print
competition and his two entries scored
98 and 97 and took first and second
place out of 8000 entries, and his images
were on the covers of the Professional
Photographer magazine along with an
article on lighting for creative portraiture.
In 1990 Fuji paid him $1500 to give a 45
minute talk in Los Angeles as well as flying
him several times to Europe to teach
workshops.

one of the most significant photographers
of the 20th century.
He printed hundreds of Beatons negatives
of Audrey Hepburn wearing the clothes he
designed for My Fair Lady as well as the
famous portraits of Greta Garbo .
In 1979 Campbell went to the US to write
a series of articles for the British Journal
of Photograph. He spent two weeks in
Santa Fe meeting with Paul Caponigro,
Elliot Porter, Laura Gilpin and other great
photographers.then travelled to the West
Coast and spent four days staying in the
home of Ansel Adams in Carmel.
In 1980 Campbell was the studio
manager for Phillip Charis in Pasadena
where the sales were well over two
million dollars. Campbell then moved to
San Diego where he bought a portrait
photography franchise. He taught as a

Campbell bought Photoshop and Painter


at Macworld expo in 1991 and he has
been working in digital photography since
the early nineties. Campbell lives in San
Diego where as a single parent he raised
his son Alex (20) who is now studying to
become a cardiac surgeon. Michael was
a track coach at the local high school for
four years but had started coaching Alex
in the high jump in 6th grade and a year
ago on leaving Scripps High School and
winning the California State Games for
the third time, Alex got a track scholarship

high jump record holder
for Great Britain back in
the nineteen sixties and
seventies and traveling
around Europe to
compete for his country

start, he did a variety of

including weddings,
but since 1980, he has
concentratedon classical

He graduated from San

a B.S. degree in Industrial
Technology in 1965,
Paul also served in the
U.S. Navy Reserve for 12
years. He also worked as
a professional musician
during and after college,
playing ragtime banjo.

My portraits are known
for what they say about
the subjects and their
relationships, not merely a
record of what they look
like. Hopefully the viewer
can relate to the story
behind the faces. I paint in
the digital world, using my
photographic studies of the
subjects and their things
as references, outputting
the images onto canvas,
and finally enhancing the
work with an assortment of

Linked Ring in London and
the Photo Secessionists in
the US, set out to bring a
more Pictorial approach
to the Art of Photography.
