ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL

ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR 2012-2013

Registrations: The registrations for the cell started on June 21st, 2012 and went on steady for a week.
Around 150 students from the college applied for membership. Candidates went through a written
preliminary round where they were oriented towards the long term objectives of the club and then
tested on their interest on entrepreneurship. They interacted with EDC office bearers and understood
their roles. A core team of 30 members was formed.
Orientation: Senior office bearers of the cell conducted an orientation for the new members where they
shared the past events of the cell. They shared material on Business Idea Generation, business model,
Opportunity evaluation and Business Plans with the members.
My story Session: The cell invited Mr. Sandeep and Mr. Anand, both Loyola College alumni who co
founded the Xerox venture Photocopy Inc. which has outlets in various colleges across the cities to share
their story of entrepreneurship. They interacted with students of the cell and spoke on the importance of
start-up internship. They also shared as to how Loyola College is the best place to groom as an
entrepreneur and extended their gratitude towards the management for the support in the venture.
NAAC Committee Visit: The Entrepreneurship Cell took part in the NAAC committee-college clubs
interaction stall set up by the College and displayed the activities undertaken by the club. The office
bearers of the club interacted with the dignitaries and shared with them the importance given by Loyola
College and its management to nation building through entrepreneurship.
Events participated in

Prof. Charles Jail Singh participated in an Entrepreneurship Training program conducted by

Anna Institute of Management, Chennai and shared the learning with the members of the cell.
Member Ajay Ramesh participated in the entrepreneurship and Management fest of ITM
Business School, Chennai and stood first in the event Business Quiz
Members Sai Akshay and Anjan. M participated in the Business Plan competition held at MOP
Vaishnava College, Chennai.

Tie Con 2012: Members from the cell participated in Tiecon 2012, the annual entrepreneurship
conference of the Chennai chapter of TIE. Entrepreneurs from various parts of the country participated.
The members also took part in the Pitch to VC workshop during the event. They brought in great
knowledge resources for cell from the conference which was held on November 26th 2012.
TATA First Dot 2013: Members from the Loyola College E cell participated in TATA First Dot 2013
powered by NEN along with other Chennai E cells, the venue of the event being IIT Madras.
Entrepreneurs from various parts of the country participated in the conference held on January 9th and
10th 2012. Around 5 Loyola E cell members participated and brought in network for the cell.
