Live Report 2 Minutes
Our reporter Dave Chawner is now at the
scene. Dave? Hi Ben, Im in the Walderslade Library where these wonderful women are busy knitting these (hold up knitted item in right hand) for this (picture of machine hold up in left hand). Now not for the photo but for the machine. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, in England and Wales. Statistics show that around 1 in 9 women
develop breast cancer at some stage in
their life. Carole Turner, founder of the knitting for charity group, is going to talk about what her knitting group are doing in order to raise money for the OSNA breast cancer machine. Carole, What does your group do in order to raise money for charities? Why did the group decide to raise money for this specific cause? Thank you very much for talking to us Carole. Angela Blackwell is also here with me and will be telling us more about the OSNA procedure. Hi Angela, so what does OSNA stand for and could you tell us more about the procedure? Thank you Angela We are now going to move onto some of the other members of the group. Hi ladies, Would you say you have to be an experienced knitter to come along to these weekly meetings? Do you have any male or younger group members? Lets put this to the test, do you think that I could have a go? Thank you for letting me come along to your meeting today, you may even see me here next week.

Thank you Dave.
A group of people known as the Friends of Milton Regis are currently raising money to turn Milton Regis Court Hall into a museum.
Package 2 mins
Our reporter, Esther Shephard, has more
information on this project. Milton Regis is a small village in the district of Swale in Kent, with a rich historic background. A local building, known as the Milton Regis Court Hall, that has been standing here for over 500 years and been left abandoned since 2006. Although the building has a lot of history and many famous visitors such as Henry VII, it seems it has been left too far behind in recent years to be worth renovating. However local members of the community who appreciate the value of the building do not want to see it fade away and have created a trust to raise enough money to transform the empty building into a museum. Friends of Milton Regis interview: What is the history of the building? What is the Museum Trust and who is involved? Why is the building worth preserving? What is the Museum Trust doing to raise money for the transformation? Interview with Head of council here Public The Old Court Hall is clearly a cherished
building. The Museum Trust hope that it
will attract families, schools and historians to the area who are interested in the history of the area. I wouldnt say I would be too excited, though, if I had to spend the night in one of the buildings cells.
