Born on the West Coast of France
(Nantes) and raised in Paris, Charles
moved to the UK only days after turning
18 and went on to study 'Film & Video'
for 5 years at the Surrey Institute of Art
& Design in Farnham, Surrey.
After graduation, he moved to Munich
(Germany) where he worked for two
years as a freelance Video Editor/Motion
Graphics Designer for various clients
though most specifically for Dedo
Weigert Film. It is thanks to his position
there that he met influential Producer and DoP, Alexandre Berkovic.
Mr. Berkovic took a look at his student work and simply said: "Ok. You've got potential." A
week later, he was off to Kazahkstan for a three-day shoot where he would direct his first
commercial for the Russian water company Derbisek; produced by Berkovic's Mark II
Productions, shot in their Almaty studios.
Charles settled back in London in 2008, allowing
him to slowly gain experience on divers freelance
projects ranging from adverts, to promos, corporate
films, virals and short films of course.
Charles has always been keen on keeping up to
date with the CG/Motion Graphics community by
implementing that knowledge as part of his
directing work.
In 2009, Charles and Brieuc de Linares (Producer) launched the
full-service digital media production company Bolt-On.Corp ltd.
where each project is done in-house from conception to delivery.
Their first challenge was the award-winning short film London Lite
for Madrid-based theatre company CreArt. The second project
was a Landmine Awareness Day spot for Unicef; it has competed
at the Cannes Lions Festival.
Charles has recently secured representation with experienced
agent Aylene Gardiner, and is now pushing ahead with his writing
& directing for the advertising and music video industry as well
making a major step towards the film industry with his first TVlength project: Between Snow & Stars (documentary following the
struggle of five mountaineers as they climb Mount Everest).

project & direction of live-action shoots.
2006 2008: Video Editor/Motion Graphics Designer at Dedo Weigert Film GmbH;
responsible for conception/production/editing of logos/graphics for video
presentations & repair videos. Preparation/adaptation of videos/idents for
international fairs/exhibitions.
2002 2006: Surrey Institute of Art & Design University, Farnham: BA (Honours) Film &
Video; majored in post-prod (3d modelling/motion graphics/compositing).
1999 2001: French high school education diploma: Baccalaurat Littraire specialized in
