Party, Kitchen Shower

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH
Birthday party: Sarah Dorr, who with her husband and children, moved back to Oklahoma City
from California this past summer, was the honoree at a 40th birthday party in the beautiful
home of her parents, Linda and Ron James. Friends and family members gathered for the
celebration, which featured a Crepe Brewers Food Truck outside the James home. Among the
food items were pumpkin crepes, lemon curd crepes and nutella and strawberry crepes.

Inside the house: The dining room table was filled with hors doeuvres such as shrimp,
meatballs, spinach and artichoke dip, vegetable tray and hummus and jalapeno dip. Bouquets of
flowers were vases with peonies, hydrangeas and roses and fall berries.
At the event: Guests included Dustin Dorr, Denise Morgan, Molly Ross, Laura and Austin
Kirkpatrick, Emily Pomeroy, Emily and Chad Reynolds, Patrick Jacobs, Susan Wagner and Wade
Williams, Sami Dahr, Trent Hancock, Caroline Cohenour, Karen Dorr, Lawre Everest, Peter
Everest, Katharine and Kent Regens, Carter Fellers, Susan and Peter Hoffman, Karen and Mike

ARTISTS RECEPTION
Event: An artists reception for Suzie Hupfeld was held at Flips Wine Bar & Trattoria. Her
whimsical, colorful artwork was hung throughout Flips and will be there until Jan. 2.
Decor: Besides the happy artworks, a large bouquet of flowers from her children greeted the
artist. They live out of town and could not be there for the reception so they sent a blue vase
filled with hydrangeas, orchids and roses.
Special guests: Hupfelds sister and brother-in-law from Dallas, Mimi and Pax Glenn, surprised
her when they came to town for the event.
People: At the party were Stan Hupfeld, Susie Nelson, Jenny and David Kallenberger, Sandi and
Dirk Shaw, Jennifer and Phil Frisen, Karen Lynn, Kitty Champlin, Peggy Philbin, Barbara Dickey,
Don Wilson, Bill Powell, Laurel Kallenberger, Dennis Johnson, Vicki and Glen Huff, Ginger
Decateau, Linda Haneborg, Joy and Jerry Richardson, Linda Holden, Mary Timme, Celia Hawpe
and Dorothy Woolbright.
EARLY BIRD PARTY
Preview party: 800 members of the Junior League of Oklahoma City and guests met for the
Mistletoe Market Preview party called Sip, Shop & Mingle at Cox Convention Center. They got
an early look at the Mistletoe Market merchandise and got to meet the 100 vendors for the
event. Showcased in the exhibit hall were food, clothing, home decor, holiday decorations and
jewelry booths.
Food/fun: Shoppers ate food from 10 local restaurants, including Pie Junkie and Fuzzys Taco
Shop, listened to live music from Born in November, featuring C+, and had cocktails.
YSOCS KITCHEN SHOWER

Event: Youth Services for Oklahoma County (YSOC) and Oklahoma City Rotary Club 29 members
were hosts for a Power Hour Kitchen Shower. The event was held to celebrate the opening of
YSOCs teaching kitchen, which was funded by a $50,000 grant from the rotary club.
Gifts: Attendees brought gifts from YSOCs registry, providing everything from salad bowls to
pots and pans to cleaning supplies.

Menu: Mutts Amazing Hot Dogs provided food.
Guests: At the party were Rotary Past President Marion Paden, current Rotary President Jerome
Holmes, Debbie and Richard Forshee, Linda Edmondson, Betsy and Cameron Mantor and about
60 other guests.
Kitchen duties: The kitchen will be used to teach life skills and provide job training to teens in
need in Oklahoma County.
OPENING ART
Gallery showing: Denise Duongs wonderful whimsical paintings were featured at the first Friday
reception at JRB Art at the Elms. The paintings of gardens, restaurants, bistros, light and art
treasures were inspired by the artists trip to Paris.
Also featured: Animal portraits by Timothy Chapman were also shown, along with photographs
by Mark Edward Harris.
Food: Chef Ryan Murphy of Tommys Italian American Grill provided bruschetta, antipasto, fried
risotto balls, Ryans signature salmon and Pollo Greco.
Guests: At the opening were Denise Duong, Matt Seikel, Jeary and Mike Seikel, Cynthia
Achiniaco, Alyce and Ron Page, Leanne and Keith Waddell, Kaye Adams, Betsy Hyde, Nick Berry,
Polly Fleet, Patty and Kent Cohenour, Dana Stone, Bob Anthony, Peter Dolese, Amy Young,
Ralph Hester, Michele Williams, Kelley Barnes, John Wolfe, Angela and Joe Slack, Ellen Moershel,
Bonnie and Bert Seabourn, Rea Baldridge and Joseph Mills.
SMARTY PARTY
Occasion: The Central Oklahoma Mensa (COM) Chapter celebrated the 50th anniversary in
member Mark Howards World War II airplane hanger at C.E. Page Airport, Yukon. COM is a local
chapter of Mensa, the largest and oldest high IQ society in the world.
Theme: A photo of Albert Einstein set the theme for the party. One of the cakes was designed
by Silvia Hurtado-Ceballos and was an interpretation of Salvador Dalis famous painting
Persistence of Memory. Another cake had a large Pi symbol. Square cookies, with the
combinations of letters and atomic numbers, were displayed on a grid.
Trivia: Partygoers tested their knowledge of COM history with a trivia contest.
Hosts: Marcie Everhart, Mark Howard, Andrea Reed, Jessica Salmans, Jonna Whetsel, Dale
Amlee and John Haubrich.
Past presidents: Mary Millen, Max Hedges, TJ Lundeen, Jon Lundeen, Nancy Park, Louanne
Duckworth, Harold Gregory, Zane LaCroix, Everhart and Whetzel were among the past
presidents at the party.
