Summary
Power electronic circuits are the link between solar modules and
the utility grid or off-grid loads. The circuits must fulfill many
requirements such as high efficiency, high reliability and low costs.
The seminar gives an overview on the most commonly used power
electronic circuits. It starts with low power applications such as
active bypass diodes, maximizers and micro inverters. Then battery
charging circuits and off-grid inverters are presented. A large part
is dedicated to grid-connected applications, where single- and
three-phase inverter circuits are presented. Do's and don'ts in PV
are explained in a chapter on the interactions between modules
and inverters. The aspects of grid integration and inverter testing
and certification will be discussed in additional presentations.

Summary
Cities are complex systems, with interdependencies everywhere.
Green Cities aim for mastering these interdependencies in an
efficient way to improve the system towards more sustainability.
Renewable energies, particularly solar energy, can emerge as
driving force of added value, job creation and flourishing cities.
Green Growth is heavily depending on the development of
renewable energy sources, locally and embedded into a smart
regional / national grid. How do investments into renewables
trigger overall growth of the city economy? Best practice
solutions, trailblazers and frontrunners, found in Germany and
the U.S. will be shared in this session. Moreover first insights into
the latest research on smart cities will be given, e.g. achieved by
the global Morgenstadt research project of the well-known
