City Gas Demand Calculation
For Calculating gas Pipeline diameter we have to first calculate the City Gas Distribution
demand for the city sector wise:-
Customer in a city:1.
Domestic Consumer
2.
Transportation
Bus
Three wheelers
Four wheelers
3.
The total gas required by the city is being calculated sector wise:-
Domestic Consumer
Algorithm
Let No. of Households in the city= a
Each House LPG cylinder usage=b
Standard Weight of an LPG in cylinder=14.7 kg
Calorific Value of LPG=11750 Kcal/m3
Calorific Value of NG=9230 Kcal/m3
Amount of LPG consumed in each house=(14.7*b)/30 Kg/day
Equivalent amount of NG=(LPG amount)*[(LPG calorific value)/NG calorific value)]
Volumetric Flow Rate=Mass flow rate/Density of NG
Total Domestic Demand,X= a*Volumetric Flow Rate*10-6 MMSCMD
Transportation Sector
(Pstan*Qstan)/Tstan=(Pact*Qact)/(Tact*Z)
Where,
Pstan=1 bar
Tstan=15oC
Pact=19 bar
Tact=25oC
Z=compressibility Factor
Calculation of Z
Calculation of Z is done using standard correlation available in literature:-
Compressbiliity Factor,Z
In this project we will be using Standing and Katz, 1942 compressibility factor for
natural gas charts:-
