Thoroughly Modern Millie recap

By Katarina DeRosier
After a long, rainy weekend, the high school musical came to an end. I know
it seems like I cant write
about anything else but the
play, but that is what has
consumed my time for the
past month.
Thoroughly Modern Millie
coming to an end is very bitter sweet. Its been exhausting trying to get it all put together and get through the
shows, but at the same time.
I loved every minute of it! I
am going to miss being in the
high school musicals. Being
Ms. Meers was so much fun
and I wouldnt have wanted
it any other way.

There is so much that is

put into every show with
everyone that is involved.
Its not just the cast, directors Casey Martin, Melody
Barnett, and Brad Mathers
devote a lot of time and effort into making the musicals successes as well. A
huge thank you goes out to:
Jackie Martin and Shannon
Bruns, who did everyones
hair; Brendon Bruns and
Jamie Barnett, who controlled the lights; Teresa
Shaw, the ticket taker; and
everyone who helped with
intermission snacks! But
most importantly, thanks
to all those who continue to
support the musical theatre
program. If you didnt get a
chance to come to the show,
you missed a lot of fun. This
play couldnt have been possible without everyones
contributions! Its definitely bittersweet that its all
over and now I have to find
something different to write
about!

Tarkio Jr. High Boys place third in South Holt Basketball Tourney
The Tarkio Jr. High Boys
Basketball Team competed
in the South Holt Tournament in Oregon, MO, this
past week.
The boys started off with
a bang, beating their rivals,
the Rock Port Blue Jays,
38-21 in their first game of
the tournament on Tuesday,
November 18, 2014. Jake
McEnaney led the Tarkio
shooters with 10 points, followed by Gage McAdams
and Garrett Meyer with 9
each, Alex Driskell with six,
and Gus Hurst and Jordan

Goodin with two each. Coach

Robbie Bates said, This
was a solid team win. It
was great to have balanced
scoring with three players
scoring between nine and
10 points. We had stretches
of great defensive effort and
discipline, too.
Not only was this a big
win for Tarkio in that it advanced them to the winners
side of the bracket, but it
was also the teams eighth
straight win in a season that
had not seen any losses yet.
Unfortunately, the win-

ning streak came to an end

when the boys faced Mound
City on Thursday, November 20. Tarkio lost the game
34-45. Jake McEnaney led
the team with 13 points,
followed by Gage McAdams with 10 points, Garrett Meyer with eight, and
Daniel Angelo with three.
Coach Bates remarked, A
slow start hurt us. Mound
City played with more energy and we did not respond.
We also played without one
of our starters. We must respond better next time.

The loss moved the Tarkio

boys to the third place game
against Savannah. Tarkio
squeezed out a win by defeating Savannah 34-32. Jake
McEnaney put 15 points
on the board, followed by
Gage McAdams and Garrett
Meyer with eight each, and
Daniel Angelo with three.
Coach Bates commented,
It was a solid win and response to our first loss. The
kids played well enough to
win and bring home third
place.
