Unit 4: Sporty weather! Lesson: Clothes
Time: 45 minutes
Lesson Aims:
I. Achievement aims:
- By the end of the lesson, the Ss will be better able to use specific information about a certain
topic;
- The Ss will be able to match the words to the pictures;
- The Ss will be able to recognize the clothes in pictures and point to the right ones;
- The Ss will be able to make the connection between the written word and the picture.
II. Procedure aims:
- The Ss will work individually, in pairs and groups;
- The Ss will take part in a contest (pointing to the right flashcard);
- The Ss will match words to the corresponding flashcard;
-The Ss will practise language in a particular context;
- The Ss will practise listening and speaking.

Stages of the Lesson


Warm-up: The teacher greets the students, introduces the guest and asks if anybody is
absent. (3 minutes).
Activity 1
Aim: - to practise the pronunciation of the words (flashcard-pronunciation);
- to elicit the new vocabulary
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-Ss
Time: 10 minutes
Procedure: The students are shown some flashcards with the clothes. The T pronounces the word
and the Ss repeat chorally and then individually.
Materials: flashcards
Activity 2
Aim: - to provide a stimulating means of practising the new vocabulary related to the topic
(pronunciation-flashcard).
Interaction: Ss-Ss, T-Ss
Time: 10 minutes
Procedure: Divided in three teams, the Ss have to come to the board in turns and show two items
of clothing that the other members of the other two teams are going to ask them. If they make a
mistake the other two teams will get each one a point; if they dont make any mistakes, they will

score a point. The game goes on like this, with each S coming to the board, until the T ends the
game. The team that gets the highest score wins.
Materials: a poster with clothes/flashcards
Activity 3
Aim: - to make the connection between picture and word (speaking-writing)
Interaction: Ss-Ss, T-Ss
Time: 10 minutes
Procedure: The students had to draw the clothes as homework. The teacher gives each student a
set of pieces of paper on which the clothes are written. They have to glue every word to the
corresponding picture. When they finish the task, they have to check their mates drawings and
see if the task was done correctly. The T offers help whenever necessary.
Materials: the Ss drawings, the handouts, glue, scissors
Activity 4
Aim: - to practise language and identify the required words
- to review the colours
Interaction: Ss-Ss, T-Ss
Time: 15 minutes
Procedure: The Ss are divided in five groups and are given a big sheet of paper containing the
clothes. They have to colour the clothes according to the way the exercise asks. When they
finish, the papers are put on the wall and the Ss will have to go and see if the other groups did a
good job. The T offers help whenever necessary.
Materials: handouts, felt-tip pens or crayons
Homework: The Ss are given two exercises as homework. (2 minutes)
