Under the Surface

You are in a neighborhood that is on the outskirts of town. Most houses are fairly normal,
nothing exceptional; perhaps the only indication of anything else, is a sign you can barely see
from a distance. This sign is about 2-3 feet in size, with the text Museum of and something
that is unreadable, the text damaged by the elements.
There is a moderate walk to the front of the museum - just a house along a small paved path.
The grass is kept in check, and there are a few trees. The hours match what is expected of a
building like this, from 8:00 to 6:00, and sometimes special events could keep it open a little
later. The entrance to the building had a few steps, and a small area where you could sit and
wait. Although the building appears humble, there is a large amount of technology and
automation in the building. The doors open automatically, and there is a keycard system to
allow people to get in when the museum is closed.
Once you have entered, the first thing you notice is that the building appears to be a good
temperature, if anything it is slightly too cold, but it is always this way in the house. It is a nice
interior, well maintained and cleaned, but not perfect, and there are slight imperfections. The
inside consists of one large room, with some small walls to separate the areas. In some areas
there are physical displays, and they are permanent. While there are also some areas that have
TV screens with temporary displays. Sometimes the TV screens are just blank, while other days

they are full of very interesting and detailed material. The content on display is varied, and
could be anything from art to math to molecular biology.
The only thing that is interesting about the room is that there is a medium sized metal door at
the back. It is accessed by entering a code, and once opened revealed an elevator. The code in
fact wasnt really a secret, beside the keypad was a small sign that gave hints to find the code;
little details in the exhibits were the key.
As you descend, you realize that the elevator goes deep into the earth. The door opens to what
you could only describe as an underground complex. There are many rooms, and areas,
although many have minimal labeling. There are some signs around, but they only point you
towards large sections of the complex. Looking at the signs you see that there is a visitors area,
and begin walking there.
As you walk through the complex, you realize that the rooms all contain different subjects and
content. You can see people playing instruments and painting, and also some other people who
are writing math equations and working with bacteria in a lab. Each room is specifically catered
to each subject, and are different sizes, so more people can work within them. As you look
down the halls, you cannot seem to see an end, but many rooms are empty. Something you
notice is that all the doors are open; and that you could easily approach anyone in the rooms.
After your short walk you arrive at the visitors area. There are few, if any people, but they all
appear to be having a good time. Within is almost anything that the visitors would want, food
and drink, and entertainment. If anything was missing that you wanted, it would be

accommodated to. In the same sense of a hotel, the request was not instant, but would be
responded to within a reasonable amount of time.
Although it is in the back, and slightly inconspicuous, there is a door that is made of some sort
of silver metal, and is magnetically sealed. It appears as if it could only be opened from an
external source, maybe only from the inside. In any case, it remains a mystery, and you see no
one enter or exit.
Analysis

There are many important aspects of how I represent myself, and how I let other people into
my life within this house. Starting from the beginning, the area in which the house is situated
is important. I am not hard to communicate with, but it is important to me that you make some
effort to communicate, and understand the fundamentals of what makes me, me. The structure
of the house represents the levels of understanding me, and communicating with me. If you do
not find the house, or do not try to talk to me in a meaningful way, such as a brief interaction at
a sporting event, then I will not let you know anything about myself. When you are in the
museum, then you know me, and have made the effort, then you get to know what I will
display on the surface level, what I am most interested in at the time; the museum is this, a
representation of who I am at the moment.
The exhibits are representative of what I am interested in, permanent exhibits represent those
things that I hold most central to myself, like music and engineering. The temporary exhibits
represent those things that I am interested at the moment, but may or may not become
permanent parts of myself. These are things like certain video games, or other intellectual

pursuits. Often these can take a long time to transition, because I am always worried about
what I share to the world. Some things will stay within myself until they are ready for display.
The next level is the underground area, this is the level that represents when you are a friend,
or at least know me very well. That is why you can find out the code to the elevator, but it could
also be given to you, it is not easy to obtain, but not impossible either.
The underground complex is representative of my brain, and how I structure it to people
externally. I do not have such organization, but I do many things, and have many interests, so it
would appear on the outside that I am very organized at the time. I am very willing to talk to my
friends about anything that interests me, which is why all the doors are open.
The last level is very important, the mysterious door. Behind this door is things that I am only
willing to share with those closest to myself, such as my parents, or old friends. It is an area that
is not very clean, is quite random, and is the source of the video feeds in the museum. While it
may be assumed that the video feeds would come from the highly organized rooms, it is
actually this area from which the video feeds originate. Inside are some gigantic rooms, and
many activities are occurring simultaneously. This is how my thoughts actually occur, and only a
few people actually know about this.
There are a few other things to note about myself from this house. The hours of the museum
and the climate control of the building represent the fact that if you want to get close to me,
you must overcome a few, trivial problems. I am very restricted to when you may communicate
with me about a certain topic if you do not know me. You only gain priority if you are close to
me. Having an equilibrium is important to me. I will bend this occasionally, but even for close

people like friends, the museum hours are still set, and my equilibrium comes first. Only people
with access to the final door, can override this.
I am also very interested in new concepts and ideas, this is represented by allowing my guests
to make any request that they desire. Sometimes it could become something I am interested in,
but it could also be something to stay in the guest room, because I may just do that activity
with the friend, and not with anyone else.
It may seem that the four levels would seem only partially true. In certain regions of my life, I
am extremely organized, and this is one of those. Many people exist in that third level, but very
few people actually exist in the fourth. That is a large transition, and it is important to me that
few people have access to it. This is due to the fact that the people who are in the fourth level,
are actually critical to my functioning. These are the people that I can talk to anytime about
anything, and act as a support in my life. Therefore, the people here must be of the highest
importance, and respect from me, because I will only respect someone, as much as they
respect me.
This is how I structure many aspects of my life. It could be viewed almost as a stock. The more
that you invest into my stock, the more influence you would have on me. It also means that I
care more about you, and would be willing to do more things outside of my comfort zone for
you. Although this could seem unreasonable, I feel that it is extremely logical, and is how I
structure most of my life, in almost too logical of a way. That is also symbolized in the
automation of the house. Although this part of myself can limit what I am able to do, and who I
get to know, it is just who I am.
