LESSON PLAN

TOPIC: INDIA
Aims: To develop studentslistening skills.
To develop students speaking skills.
To build on students cultural knowledge about the
world .
To introduce vocabulary : shampoo, curry, yoga, guru,
mango, pijamas etc.

Students and Timing:


Age group: Adults/teenagers
Level : Intermediate
TRAINER: Razvan Nicolae Bucalau
Time : 50 minutes
Materials: the worksheets about India and the audio
recording of the studied text, laptop computer, pictures and
drawings about India.

LESSON STAGES:
Activity 1- Warm up:
AIM- to get students ready for the English class by having an
informal conversation ( greetings, How are you...?, what ,s
the weather like today?
TIMING- 1 minute

TYPE OF INTERACTION - T-S, S-T


Procedure: T greets the Students and asks them how they
are and about the weather.
Students respond to informal questions.
Activity 2: homework check- up
AIM - to check weather students have accomplished their
task well.
Timing - 2 minutes

ACTIVITY 3 - Transition to The New Lesson


- AIM- to make a connection between the what the students
already learned and the new lesson.
TIMING: 5 minutes
- the teacher starts a discussion about going on a holiday to
a exotic country.
- the teacher writes on the board the ollowing questions:
. DO YOU LIKE TRAVELLING? WHY?
. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO ON A HOLIDAY?
. HOW DID YOU SPEND YOUR SUMMER HOLIDAY?
- one of the students ask the teacher these questions.
- T answer the questions.
- then the SS work in pairs and ask and answer these
questions for 2 min.
ACTIVITY 4 - PRESENTATION - ( NEW LESSON)

- to make students know more about a particular


country INDIA
Timing- 5 minutes
Procedure - Teacher shows the students different pictures
related to India: a guru, a bowl of curry, a tiger, Taj Mahal, a
Bengal tiger , a woman in sari etc.
- Teacher writes on the board - I am going on a holiday
- where?????
- Ss guess - India
Teacher asks - What do you know about India?
- the students will give answers and the teacher will write
them on the board
- the teacher announces the new topic - India
ACTIVITY 5: Listening the audio, reading the text and
solving the exercices
- the students listen to a text about India
- the teacher writes on the board - the following questions
while the Students are listening to the recording :
What words come from the Indian languages?
what sport originated in India?
Who was the most famous freedom fighter in India?

- after reading students answer the questions.


- after reading students do exercise 1.
STAGE 2: FEEDBACK
AIMS: to consolidate what was learned during the

class and to recycle some vocabulary to offer more


practice.
The Ss are asked to solve the TEST 1: Do you want
to be a millionaire?
ACTIVITY 6: Homework assignment
AIM- to asign Ss Homework
TIME: 1 minute
Procedure: for the next time you have to write an
essay of 1 - 2 pages about your favourite country.
What s your favourite country???
