LOVING GOD

Matthew 22:34-40
New International Version (NIV)

The Greatest Commandment

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got
together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this
question: 36 Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?
34

Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with your entire mind.[a] 38 This is the first and greatest
commandment. 39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as
yourself.[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two
commandments.

The Scribes: Which Is the First Commandment of All?

But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they
gathered together. 35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a
question, testing
Him,
and
saying, 36 Teacher,
which is the
great
commandment in the law?
34

Jesus said to him, You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind.[a] 38 This is the first and great
commandment. 39 And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.[b] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the
Prophets.

hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at
home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you
get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your
foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your
gates.

And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You
shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you
sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when
you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be
as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of
your house and on your gates.
