The Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention

began in 1925 as a means to fund the work and entities of the Southern
Baptist Convention without relying on each group to raise their own
support. Each cooperating church was asked to give a portion of their
offering to the Cooperative Program. Some churches chose to give
nothing, some chose to give an annual lump sum, others chose to give a
percentage of their offering. First Baptist Church chooses to give 10%,
a tithe, of our general offerings to the Cooperative Program to carry on
the work of Southern Baptist in the Kingdom of God.
Two annual offerings are received each year designated for our
missionaries. One is the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North
American Missions and the other is the Lottie Moon Christmas
Offering for Foreign Missions. We are in the season of the Lottie
Moon Offering. Our church goal for this offering is $12,000. All of
the proceeds of this offering go directly to our Foreign Missionaries.
We will receive this offering in our Sunday Morning worship
services this week. Greg Queen of the International Mission Board,
will be guest speaker in both services. Please come prepared to give
and give generously.
I thought we had three great worship services this past Sunday.
Thank you, Daniel Dunlap, for leading us in praise at the Gathering. It
is always exciting to see what God is doing in the life of those who
were reared at First Baptist. Thank you Jeff Jones for using your
talents twice! Once in the Gathering as the sound technician and then
blessing us with a solo in the 11 AM service.
Sunday Evening we were blessed with the Youth leading in
worship through hymns and praise songs. Jeff Baxley did an
outstanding job sharing the Word with us and Gods presence was
evident throughout the worship time.
I cant wait to see what God is going to do this Sunday at First
Baptist. I look forward to seeing you then.

FELLOWSHIP CLUB LAST MONDAY

A special word of thanks to Lewis & Clarene Jones for taking over
the kitchen duties of the always faithful Fleshmans. Barbaras illness kept them from their regular tasks of preparing and serving our
meals, but the Jones stepped up and did a great job. Get well soon,
Barbara!

What's Happening:
December 10 Last Day of RAs/GAs/Mission Friends
December 11 Christmas Parade
December 12 Children's Choir Dress Rehearsal
December 14 Children's Choir Performance @ 6:30 pm

This Sunday night is the first of the month which means we will
have SNAC. Following the service the students will be gathering at
the home of Harold and Joy Burrell for a time of fellowship.
On Sunday morning, December 14 the youth will be taking
nominations for The Shinning Light Award. This award will be
given to the high school senior and announced at our Christmas
party on December 20.
The Christmas party will begin at 5:00. We will meet together at
the youth building and from there we will be caroling at local
nursing homes as well as participating in a progressive supper. The
cost is free, but we are asking each student to bring a gift that is
acceptable for either a boy or a girl and cost less than $10.
Parents, circle January 11 on your calendar as this will be the next
date for a parent meeting. This will be an informal time for us to
meet together to look at the calendar for the next quarter and have
discussion about our youth ministry.
Blessings,
Jeff
