Plate # 3 Simple Curves

1. A simple horizontal curve of radius 750 ft connects two tangents that intersects at an angle of
6630. Compute the different parts of the curves. (T, L, LC, M, E, D)
2. A simple horizontal curve of radius 125 m connects two tangents that intersects at an angle of
10540. Compute the different parts of the curves. (T, L, LC, M, E, D)
3. The radius of the simple curve is twice its tangent distance. What is the angle of intersection?
4. For simple curve in problem 1, if the station of PI is 22 + 50, what are the stations of PC and PT?
5. For simple curve in problem 2, if the station of PI is 12 + 000, what are the stations of PC and PT?
6. A 5 curve intersects a property line CD at point D. the back tangent intersects the property line
at point C which is 105.720 m from PC which is at station 0+512.00. the angle that the property
line CD makes with the back tangent is 11050.
7. Two tangents intersects at V at station 12+000. The angle of intersection is 34, stationing of PC
is 11+922.16. Without changing the location of PC and the sharpness of thecurve, it is desired to
shorten the length of the curve by 50 meters. Determine the stationing of the new point of
intersection (PI) and new point of tangency (PT)
8. Find BC and EC stations, length of chord, middle ordinate and external distance.

9. The angle of intersection of a circular curve is 54. Compute radius, tangents, deflection angles,
stationing of PT and degree of curve if the external distance is 22.05 m and the PI is at station
65+000. One station is 10 meters. (Tabulate result for deflection angles, Xp and Yp )
