Christmas
activities (1)
Activity Time

Activities and worksheets:

This week we are going to focus on Xmas vocab. After learning the vocab we
will do a variety of worksheets. A Xmas vocab word search will help to
improve the students spelling and reading. We will also do a worksheet
where the students have to read instructions about which colours to add to a
picture of Santa Claus i.e. Santa has a red nose and pink face.
Crafts:
In crafts we are going to make Christmas angels. The students will decorate
the Angels, cut them out and glue the various body parts together.
Games:
Additional games we will play will be charades, where the students act out a
flashcard, for example a snowman. We will also play musical chairs with
flashcards placed on the chairs that have to be read out when sat on.
Videos:
We are going to watch The Snowman cartoon and I will explain what we
see.

New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
Phonics
P1 Preparation

This week in(T.

phonics
we will learn
Andy)
the 'mp' sound as an end sound
lamp, stamp, stump, jump, plump,
hump, pump; 'lt' as an end sound
belt, melt, quilt, felt; 'sk' as an end
sound husk, desk. The students
will practice association from
words to pictures, reading
sentences, identifying if words
match the corresponding image,
and completing sentences with the
correct word. We will also play
games like Bingo and The Corners
Game to practice reading and
forming words phonetically in an
enjoyable fashion. I will also test
the students on their knowledge of
old vocabulary words to check that
they are remembering them.

Please refer to the circle time box for the list of new vocabulary.
Maths
This week in maths the students will move on
from the concepts of greater and smaller that
they studied last week by proceeding to start
ordering numbers in terms of size. This will
teach them the superlative form of the
vocabulary words that they have been
learning and how to apply them with more
confidence to numbers rather than objects.
The students are confident with bigger and
smaller, although they struggled with some of
the size and weight specific vocabulary, so I
will progress onto greater so that they know
the appropriate words for their scholarship
exam confidently.

the work. Also please could you

Teacher Mike.
