I hereby apply for the scholarship by The Scholarships Sponsoring Association at theBauhaus-University

Weimar for the 2015/16 winter session.

I am a Civil Engineer from Jadavpur University, Kolkata , India working as a Structural Engineer for a
multinational EPCM company in the Energy & Chemical sector where I am improving my skills in designing
various civil structures. If I relate my childhood memories to my present profession, I must take pride in
succeeding my zest of knowing all possible mechanisms behind a toy then to the complex behavior of any
kind of structures now being a Structural Engineer. From my childhood only I have had that appetite of
making new model or prototype. From 2008 onwards I have experienced designing reinforced concrete &
steel structures, Process Structure, industrial warehouse and earthquake resistant structures. However, in
the year 2012 I embraced the opportunity to do an assignment in Manila, Philippines that gave me
experience on design& development of downstream GLNG facilities. In my 3 years of undergraduate studies
in Civil Engineering I secured 1st class due to my indomitable interest in Structures & my constant search for
the logic behind anything. In addition to improve my analytical skill, this experience also gave me
fundamental insights into structural detailing and practical design.
Then, I decided to complete Ms in Structural Engineering and joined Bauhaus University in October, 2013
with great eagerness to learn Structural Dynamics, Modelling and Finite Element and progress in
Engineeringfield not only in application based but also in Research and Development. By the end of second
semester I have completed 70 credit opting 14 nos of course work with average 2.3 GPA. In this third
semester again I have registered for another 4 course work and one special project in Fluid Structure
interaction under Modelling and Simulation of Structures, Chair Prof.Dr. Guido Morgenthal.

After 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering, this Master Program contributes to the
evolution of my skills on Structural Analysis and convert it into research mode in this field. Studying the
courses included in this Master Program helped me better to understand the current numerical structural
analysis and other numerical model involved in Structural Engineering. Technical innovations for challenging
engineering tasks rely heavily on numerical simulation tools which are also in high demand in the
international business as well as in research areas. I want to contribute in developing better world and
betterment of living standard of the society.
Other than my academic and professional career I was always in the first row to participate in cultural, social
and sporting activity from my school, college to workplace wherever I am. I participated each time in playing
drama and recitation on many occasion of cultural festival like Birth Anniversary of Famous Nobel Laureate
Rabindranath Tagore and Independence Day celebration, etc.
I was associated with Fluor Cares of Fluor Daniel India Pvt. Ltd. where I was actively participanting in
community development work organized by Fluor Cares like Mahavir International Health Check-ups at
Their Door Step- Doctors at the Door Step organizes health check-up camps in remote areas to provide
medical care to marginalized populations and Artificial limb Implantation Camp with help of Bhagwan
Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti for physically challenged people in, NCR, New Delhi India etc, voluntarily
beside my professional commitment in official business. Here, I am actively participating in Cultural Talk
event in Bauhaus University Weimar for interchange cultures here within different community.
I believe my past academic background in Engineering combined with my work experience and social and
cultural involvement and achievement in academic of Natural Hazards and Risk in Structural Engineering
may fulfill your requirements for this scholarship which will encourage me morally and support financially
to engage myself more intensely in contributing research work and socio-cultural development.
