6.6.3 Codes beginning with the letter P are to be used only for the PETROBRAS departments.
7 Coding Applications
7.1 How to fill in spaces
As a general rule, in coding a document all spaces referring to the 7 basic groups shall be filled in,
except for the caracter used for differentiating the language, two optional numbers of
Annex B and the differentiating number of Annex C or E, when they are not applicable.
7.2 Identification of Industrial Equipment
For identification of equipment, as described in PETROBRAS N-1521, shall be used the area code of
activity (Annex C) or plant (Annex B).
For the identification of pipe lines, as described in PETROBRAS N-1522, shall be used on the area
code of activity (Annex C).
7.4.1 The indices of each of the categories of documents shall be identified by the same code of the
category, with group 6 - Chronology, being numbered as 000 (zero, zero, zero). Exceptionally, the
use of four numbers shall be permitted in those cases in which the chronology exceeds the hundreds.

7.4.3 The code indicating the revision shall be placed in the appropriate field, as described in
PETROBRAS N-2064.
7.4.4.1 When oil and gas pipelines are characterized as transport facilities, the code for identifying the
facility (Annex B) corresponds to the pipeline right of way. The area of activity (Annex C) is suitable
within the Pipelines item. As to the service class (Annex D), the corresponding code shall be
considered (see example in 7.5.5).
7.4.4.2 The pipelines of the production regions shall be coded as independent facilities (Annex B)
within the following criteria:
a) pipelines interconnecting distinct production regions (example: GASEB - code 3103.10);
b) trunk lines receiving production from distinct fields.
7.4.4.3 The other pipelines, in the following cases, shall be coded with the code for installation of
origin, considering the direction of product flow:
a)
b)
c)
d)
e)
f)
7.4.4.4 The code for area of activity (Annexes C or E) shall correspond to the type of pipeline (oil
pipeline-6510, gas pipeline-6520, alcohol pipeline-6530) (see example in 7.5.6).
7.4.5.1 Fixed platforms are considered facilities according to the coding in Annex B.
7.4.5.2 Modular platforms shall be coded as to the area of activity (Annexes C or E) by their various
operational systems (process, utilities). The use of codes for modules (1 400) shall be restricted to the
specific parts of the actual module, such as its structure, for instance. This application is mainly
intended for documents used for manufacturing, construction and assembly of those modules. Flow
sheets and electrical diagrams are coded by units or systems. (example: code 5140).
7.4.5.3 Non-modular platforms are divided, in the general case, as to areas of activity into jacket,
deck, helideck, flare, gas-lift system, water injection system, processing units, utilities, and
accommodations. In that case they shall be identified by the code of the corresponding area of activity.
7.4.6.1 Stationary drilling units are coded as E&P - Drilling Area, code 2000.00 of Annex B Identification of Facilities.

6.5.1.1 Annex F shall be used whenever the area of activity applies to FRONAPE ships. In which
case, the numbering of Annex B (Identification of Facility) will begin with 48.
6.5.2 The third character indicated by the letter A shall begin from zero to 9 and then from A to Z
(excluding letters I and O).
6.5.3 A document shall be classified in a general group or in subgroups of Annex D with some
flexibility, depending on the complexity of the project under consideration. Thus, the directives set out
in 6.5.3.1 to 6.5.3.4, shall be adopted.
6.5.3.1 Drawings and documents involving different subjects of one and the same group or subgroup
shall be coded with the general class of that group or subgroup. Thus, a piping plan, for instance,
involving pipes (subgroup 210), valves (subgroup 220), and fittings (subgroup 240), will be assigned
the code 200 (general piping); a specification for valves covering different types will be given the code
220.
6.5.3.2 It is recommended that the drawings of specific details are encrypted with the corresponding
specific code. As an example, may be mentioned the design of a special valve that should receive the
code 229. [Recommended Practice]
6.5.3.3 Specifications, Data Sheets, Material Requisitions and others similar documents, originating
the purchase of materials, shall be coded with the corresponding specific code. For instance,
requisitions for valves shall be grouped in gate valves (code 221) and globe valves (code 222).
6.6.1 This is a basic group consisting of three letters. It identifies the issuer of the document
(PETROBRAS department or contracted firm). The codes relating to the PETROBRAS departments or
contracted firms shall be obtained from NORTEC-GC. The configuration of group 5 is indicated below:

6.6.2 When this Standard is applied to manufacturers documents, it is recommended that a specific
code be used for equipment manufacturers and code ZZZ for the other ones. [Recommended
Practice]
6.6.3 Codes beginning with the letter P are to be used only for the PETROBRAS departments.
7 Coding Applications
7.1 How to fill in spaces
As a general rule, in coding a document all spaces referring to the 7 basic groups shall be filled in,
except for the digit used for differentiating the language, dos optional digits of
Annex B and the differentiating digit of Annex C or E, when they are not applicable.
Exceptionally, the
use of four digits shall be permitted in those cases in which the chronology exceeds the hundreds.
