1. Business Requirements
1.1. Background & Customer Needs
Every time when new starts or examination schedule is announced in Mehran University of
Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro there is a lot of mess everywhere and everyone is eager
to pay his tuition fees as soon as possible. This results in long queues outside the Bank and
student has to come to university bank during their preparation leaves thus wasting a whole day.
In addition to this there is no any proper channel to inform students about any announcements
or upcoming events in university and student has to regularly visit notice board in Administration
Block to get informed.
Many students have requested a system that would permit them to pay their fees with ease and
let them know about upcoming events and announcements on regular basis.

1.2. Business Opportunity


Mobile Fees payment and Event Notification System is solution to all those problems discussed
above. By using this system students can easily pay their annual and exam fees by sending
their details and scratch card number via SMS. As far as availability of scratch cards is
concerned they will be easily available at departments and other locations inside university
campus. This system will also permit university administration to notify students by sending
SMS regarding any announcement or event.

1.3. Business Objectives and Success Criteria


BO-1: Reduce extra charges paid to Bank by 50% within 3 months of initial release.
BO-2: Reduce the manual record maintenance and paper work in university by 30%
within 6 months.
SC-1: Have 95% of students who presently use manual fees payment process use the
Mobile Fees Payment System within 12 months following initial release.
SC-2: Reach in top 5 universities of Pakistan by implementing technology in its
operations.
SC-3: Achieve an average increase in rating of yearly survey by HEC of 5% in following
year of initial release.

RI-1:

Students might not prefer to use this new system as they are very curious about
their money.

RI-2:

Scratch card numbers might get steal by any means causing a loss of money.

2. Vision of the Solution


2.1. Vision Statement
For students who wish to get event notifications and pay their annual and exam fees with ease,
Mobile Fees Payment & Event Notification System is an application that will accept scratch
number and details from students and register them for classes and exams. In addition to that it
will also send event notifications to students. Unlike manual fees payment process, students
who use the Mobile Fees Payment & Event Notification System will not have to go to the bank
and administration block to pay their fees and view announcements respectively, which will save
their plenty of time.

3.2. Limitations and Exclusions


LI-1:

Mobile fees payment shall only be applicable for tuition and exams fees. Student
cannot pay their admission fees through this system.

LI-2:

This system shall only be used for main campus of Mehran University at
Jamshoro and not for its constituent colleges.
