you to permanently add special

codes to the database for future
use in model creation.

Instant Component Analysis

Theres no reason to create a complete vessel model if all you need is
a quick calculation. Just provide the
data for the component and review
the results immediately without
generating a formal report. To organize your results, these programs
allow you to group any number of
components in a file and summarize
their results. For example, design of
a heat exchanger may include the
evaluation of several elements for
the heads, channel and body components. Once these components
are set, the tubesheet and the floating head can be designed. Add a Zick
analysis for the saddle supports, and
finally, a group of nozzles and their
attached flanges can be analyzed.
Each of these steps can be accomplished on its own or in conjunction
with others. To reduce input errors,
similar data can be merged into
other analyses. A component
browser makes review of the model
components simple and direct.

COADEs software keeps pace with

the development of vessel design
codes and standards by incorporating code changes and releasing
product updates as these changes
become mandatory. These codes
and standards include:

accurate specification. Material tables

provide allowable stress versus
temperature, yield stress versus
temperature, external pressure
charts, UNS number and product
form. These properties are listed
just as they appear in their respective codes with the added benefit
of being sorted alphabetically for
quick search and selection. Material
types include:

Windows technology makes

PVElite and CodeCalc readily
accessible to both full time vessel
designers and those occasional
users who require quick start up
and confidence in their safety code
calculations. Whether its a simple
component check or a complete
vessel designinput, analysis and
output are clear and concise. Input
screens are tailored to the type of
data required and are supported by
graphic representation and on-line
help. COADEs vessel software
calculates initial design parameters
for new construction and also
evaluates and re-rates existing
vessels. And program output
reports list the equations used
and summarize results.

With these cone

graphics, complicated
geometries are no
longer difficult to build.

Output is properly documented for quick and

intelligent review. Actual vessel code equations are
displayed along with the input variables before the
end results are listed.

These individual component models

and their calculations can be organized in a single report including a
summary of the pressure capacity
and weight of the components.

ADDED
PVElite is the comprehensive solution for a
complete, structural
design of tall process
towers and horizontal
vessels.
Going beyond the pressure design
found in CodeCalc, PVElite analyzes
the effects of vessel deadweight
and bending due to wind and seismic loads. Basing stress calculations on this total structural load
ensures sufficient wall thickness for
the vessel in its operating environment and ensures proper design of
the vessel supports.

Graphical Interface for Fast,

Efficient Modeling
Building even complex vessel
models in PVElite is quick and easy.
As each major element is added,
the graphical display is updated to
show the new element in relation
to the others. This image confirms
the content of the model. Clicking
on the element in the plot brings up
the tabular data for that element. As
details (such as nozzles, insulation
or trays) are added, they too are
illustrated, and clicking on them will
bring up their data for review. Other
geometries can also be confirmed
graphically, namely base ring layout
and nozzle orientation. The status
bar constantly displays the position
of the current element, its required
(pressure) thickness, its maximum
allowable working pressure (MAWP)
and its MAP in the new and cold
condition (MAPnc). Graphic presentation keeps your data organized and
confirms the integrity of the model.

FEATURES

Powerful Analysis Engine for

Complete Vessel Design
For new vessel design, PVElite can
quickly set required wall thickness
for heads, shells and cones and
size components for valid combinations of pressure (internal and
external), deadweight (erected,
operating and hydrostatic test
conditions), and wind and seismic
live loads. The program sums the
weights of each element and all its
details to calculate the compressive
stresses in the vessel wall. Input
for the live loads can be based on
parameters defined in several building codes or on user-defined, local
loads. These live loads bend the
vessel, creating both tensile and
compressive stresses in the vessel
wall. Pressure causes either tensile
or compressive longitudinal stresses
in the vessel wall. PVElite combines
these stresses and adjusts the vessel wall on an element-by-element
basis to ensure that this new vessel
meets the minimum requirements
for both tension and compression.
