must be properly screwed and secured. PPMS on engine room floor plate
screws. Barricade unsecured floor plates.
Toolbox Talk, Raise safety awareness of crew. Proper safety footwear.
Barricade and install signage, SLIPPERY FLOOR. Wash down oily floor
plates.
Engineers to use proper tools and fully understood the working
procedure. Competent engineers to carry out task. Stop work if not proper
tools available.
Safety Induction to engineers and provide proper engine room cover all.
Risk Assessment on handling of batteries. Training on Safe Manual

Usage of chain block if material is too heavy.

moving equipment. Raise Safety Awareness of engineers on proper
usage of Chemical PPE. First Aider availability, First Aid Kit/box. Eye
wash station in engine room.

Guards in place. Grinding disk in good quality. Checklist before using.
Proper PPE-face shield. PPMS on grinders. Competent and trained
person to use power grinders
No long hair and sporting jewelries while working in engine room. Stop
any engineers to commence work sporting these qualities.
Familiarization briefing of emergency alarm signals, Emergency
procedure checklist.
Risk Assessment when servicing sea chest, and all other cooling valves
and piping. Tag/signage notices in place. Blinding flange available. Bilge
float alarm detector in working condition.
Emergency procedure on engine room flooding.
Raise safety Awareness to Crew. Mandatory signage/ notices posted in
the entrance door or in the engine room to use proper ear protectors,
earmuffs/earplugs. Stop engineers if not using this noise protective gear.
Enforce good housekeeping. Tools must be properly stowed. Usage of
proper safety footwear/shoes. First aider, First kit/box. Emergency
procedure of personal injury/casualty.
Toolbox Talk, Risk Assessment, Raise safety awareness in engine
room activity. Working under the keen eye of supervision of experience
buddy. Safety Induction and Briefing
Toolbox Talk, Risk Assessment on ladders, Raise Safety Awareness using
ladders. Mandatory signage to use navy style when descending or

reception facilities. Cleaning of oil residue at bilge. PPMS for leaks,

Highlighting of unguarded moving mechanical equipment. Barricade,
signage in place. Raise safety Awareness. Stringent monitoring and
supervision by the responsible in charge in the engine room.
Usage of proper hand gloves. Waste rag ready and available. First Aider,
First aid kit/box. Hand cleaner on standby.
Saw dust/absorbent/waste rags in place.
SOPEP equipment ready. Wash down oily areas.
