8th Annual St. Jude Breakaway

5K & Alumni Reunion Lunch
by Aubrey Hale

Last year the Nu Alpha

chapter of Sigma Nu raised over
$3,500
for
our
national
philanthropy Saint Jude
Childrens Research Hospital.
Sigma Nu is a collegiate partner of
St. Jude's in the fight against
catastrophic childhood disease.
This year, the 5K will be on April
4th and will take place at UAFS.
We have raised the stakes and we
have a goal of $3,800 we would
like to raise. We plan on reaching
this goal by convincing more
corporate sponsors of the need
for this type of research, so if you
know of anyone, feel free to
forward the message to any
brothers in the chapter. We also
are going to increase the number
of participants by marketing the
event more. If you would like to

participate in this event as a

runner,
you
can
visit
uafssigmanu.com and register in
March. It will ask you to fill in a
brother who asked you to
register, so feel free to use
Aubrey Hale or any other brother
you know in the collegiate
chapter.
After the 5K, we will have
an Alumni Lunch at Ralphs Pink
Flamingo. The lunch will be free
to alumni and 1 guest. There may
also be alumni from other
chapters as well, so have fun
networking with brothers you
have never met before.
Please RSVP with Aubrey
Hale at ahale02@g.uafs.edu so
we can have an estimate of how
many to cater to.

on campus with a 3.19 for Fall 2014.

Alumni Involvement in the

Chapter and Looking Ahead
by Aubrey Hale & Henry Gutierrez

On December 13th, 2014, the executive board for the Nu Alpha Chapter met to discuss the
upcoming semester. Our alumni advisor, John Hart, was also in attendance. Some of the main
discussion points were the Greek Excellence packet, recruitment, candidacy, and also alumni
involvement. Our goal is to win Greek Week, and this will also help us in attaining Rock Chapter from headquarters. We also decided
we need to keep the website updated so headquarters can see what we are doing on campus easier. However, one area we did lack in
was Alumni Involvement. This is why we are going to do our best to make sure the alumni have better reasons to be more involved. I
hope to bring back Alumni Weekend and create the Mentoring Program. Speaking of Alumni Involvement, on January 10th, 2015 we
will be initiating 12 new men into Sigma Nu. The new highest badge number will be around 125, so some of you may feel old. This is a
great opportunity to show the new members what brotherhood is all about. I also hope that communication with the alumni has
improved over the past semester. If anyone has any suggestions for me or the chapter, feel free to contact me at ahale02@g.uafs.edu
