GAMMA UPSILON CHAPTER

FALL FEST 2014

Sigma Pi had an
extremely successful
Fall Fest Week.
Throughout the week,
we sold cake balls and
Oreo balls to the
students of Murray
State in the Curris
Center. Sororities
competed against
each other to see who
could earn the most
spirit points by
purchasing these
delicious treats. On
Friday, October 24th,
we threw a joint social
event with Sigma Chi
and Lambda Chi
Alpha. We ended the
Fall Fest week with a
day of fun and exciting
games, as sororities
competed against
each other to find out
who would be the
Queens of Fall Fest. The
ladies of Alpha
Omicron Pi proved to
be too much to
handle, as they ran
away to claim victory.
Kappa Delta came in
second and won the
spirit award. After all of
the fun and games
were over, Gamma
Upsilon gladly raised
over $1500 for the
Amazing Day
Foundation

FALL 2014
The Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Pi began the fall semester of
2014 with an exciting amount of awards and accomplishments from
the 52nd Sigma Pi Biennial Convocation. The active chapter received
the Membership Recruitment Award, the 900 Club Efficiency Award,
and the Grand Chapter Top 25 Award. Our Alumni Club won the Most
Outstanding Alumni Club Award and the Reston-Fitzpatrick Award.
Additionally, we would like to recognize and congratulate two of our
Gamma Upsilons alumnus that were elected to the Grand Council: E.
Andrew Morris (1970) as the Grand Sage, and Les Wright (1970) as the
Grand Herald.
After the recognition of our hard work as a chapter at convocation,
the chapter was driven to maintain the success, and in that, selecting
the best men during recruitment. After recruitment, we then focused as
a chapter to maintain and improve our excellent relationships with
other organizations around campus. Through several different events
and mixers with sororities on campus, to Homecoming, to Fall Fest, to
even doing the Haunted Hallway at a local elementary school, Sigma
Pi was greatly represented to hold all of the values that make us the
gentlemen that we are.

Fall RUSH 2014

Gamma Upsilon was excited to expand our
chapter with 14 young men that share the
values that Sigma Pi holds most dearly. We
were proud to begin this journey with the
Delta Kappa pledge class. The new members
for the fall of 2014 rapidly increased in their
knowledge and love for Sigma Pi, and we as
a chapter look forward to calling them our
brothers.

Social and Homecoming

The fall semester was a breakthrough in the quality of social events and mixers for the Gamma Upsilon
Chapter. On September 20th, we had a Water Wars mixer with the ladies of Alpha Delta Pi. We had a slip and
slide and water sports.
Homecoming Week was an experience to remember to spend with each of our brothers and the ladies of
Alpha Delta Pi. Our theme for the float was Racers in Louisville. Our float was filled with flowers, wooden
horses, and beautiful women. Tent City was everything that we expected it to be and more. It was great to
be able to catch up with friends and alumni as they came down to enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs, and
watch the Racers play an exciting game for the win. We enjoy inviting alumni to spend time with the active
chapter and brothers from throughout the year.
Our second mixer was held at the
Murray State Arboretum on October
23rd, with the women of Alpha Sigma
Alpha. We played a revamped
version of capture the flag
throughout the corn mazes and
flower gardens located at the
arboretum. Following the fun
competition, we had hamburgers
and hot dogs, cooked by our own
brothers. It was a great success and
everyone enjoyed themselves.
Our third mixer was with the ladies
of Kappa Delta, and we had a trivia
night. We ate dinner at The Apple,

followed by a game of Trivia. It was

a great time and we look forward to

Gamma upsilon chapter

The Gamma Upsilon Chapter had a very successful fall 2014 semester and we look forward to the spring
2015 semester. With ACE Project, Orchid Ball, and the other events we have planned, it should be a semester
that we will always be able to look back on with enjoyment. Reflecting on the semester, I have seen growth
not only in myself, but in our brothers as well. We look forward to another great semester, and if you have any
questions, feel free to contact me at (859)481-2382.
