andtheirimportanceintheworkplace.Thesetermsarealsousedinthese
instructions.Belowisabriefdescriptionoftheparttheseindividualsplayinthe
employmentoffallprotectionequipment:
AuthorizedPersonapersonwhoisexposedtofallhazardsduringthecourseoftheir
work.Thisindividualrequiresformaltrainingintheuseofpersonalfallprotection
equipmentandsystems.ThetermAuthorizedPersonmaybeusedinterchangeably
withUserandEndUser.
CompetentPersonatrainedandexperiencedpersonwhoisdesignatedtosupervise,
implementandmonitoranemployersmanagedfallprotectionprogram.This
individualiscapableofidentifyingandaddressingfallhazardsandisauthorizedto
makedecisionsandtakecorrectiveactionintheworkplace.
QualifiedPersonapersonpossessingadegreeorprofessionalcertificateandhaving
extensivetraining,knowledgeandexperiencewithfallprotectionandwhoiscapable
ofdesigningandspecifyingfallprotectionequipmentandsystemstoaddressfall
hazards.

Pleasereadtheseinstructionsandbesurethatyouunderstandthempriortoutilizing
thisequipment.Alsobesuretoreadtheinstructionsincludedwithothercomponents
whicharebeingutilizedinyourPersonalFallArrestSystem(Harnesses,connectors,
anchorageconnectors,etc.).Failuretounderstandandcomplywithmanufacturers
instructionsmayresultinseriousinjuryordeath.IFYOUDONOTUNDERSTANDANY
PARTOFTHESEINSTRUCTIONS,PLEASEHAVETHEMEXPLAINEDTOYOUBYA
COMPETENTPERSON.
Thisproductistobeusedaspartofacompletefallarrestsysteminaccordancewith
industryrecognizedbestpracticesandyouremployersfallprotectionplan,as
requiredbytheOccupationalSafetyandHealthAdministration.Beawareofyour
employersfallprotectionplanandrescueplan.Beawareofthespecificfallhazards
onyourjobsiteandworkdeliberatelytoavoidthesehazardsinthecourseofyour
work.Alsobeawareofhazardsandobstructionsinyourfallpath,andworkwithyour
employertoeliminatethesehazardswherepossible.Failuretobeawareofandto
addressthesehazardsmayresultinseriousinjuryordeath.

Dontuseoiltolubricatemovingparts.Iflubricationisneeded,firstbesureto
cleanallmovingpartsthoroughly;thenuseonly100%siliconelubricant.
DontusethisdeviceifitwillexposesomeelementofyourPersonalFall
Arrestsystem(PFAS)tosharporjaggededges.
Dontknotanycomponentofthissystem.
Dontusethisdeviceifyouarepregnant,aminor,orhaveareducedtolerance
tofallforcesbyreasonofage,physicalmedicalcondition,orotherpre
existingdisorders.
Dontusethisdeviceifyouweighlessthan75lbs.

exceeds425lbs.

andreplaced.

Advisory#2:Properproductselection
Productselectionisanimportantelementoffallprotection.FallArrestproducts
arelikeanyothertoolsthatyoumayuseinthecourseofyourworkthereisaproper
toolforeveryapplication.Youmayfindthatwhilethisproductissuitableforsome
applications,itmaynotbesuitableforothers.Pleasebesuretopaycloseattentionto
sections2,3,and4,forgreaterdetailonthispoint.
Advisory#3:ConnectorCompatibility
Makingcompatibleconnectionsmaymeanthedifferencebetweenlifeanddeath.
Connectors(snaphooks,rebarhooksandcarabiners),mustbeofthelockingtypeand
requiretwodistinctactionstoopenthegate.Yourconnectorsmustbesizedand
shapedsothattheringsorstructuralmemberstowhichtheyareattachedwillnot
poseariskofforcingthegateopen,andmustfullycaptivatetheconnectorsothatit
cannotbecomedisengaged,slideorshiftduringuseorintheeventofafall.
Certainconnectionsareforbiddenandshouldneverbeattemptedwiththisproduct
oranyotherunlessthereisaspecificallowanceinthemanufacturersinstructions.
Forbiddenconnectionsinclude,butarenotlimitedto:
Twoormoreconnectorstoonedringareaforbiddenconnection.
Aconnectionthatrestsonorloadsthegateisaforbiddenconnection.
Aconnectionthatdoesnotallowthegatetocloseandlockisaforbidden
connection.
Twoormoreconnectorsattachedtooneanotherareaforbidden
connection.
Connectingdirectlytowebbing,rope,cable(wirerope)isaforbidden
connection.
Connectingdirectlytoahorizontallifelineisaforbiddenconnection.
TiebackwithyourFallTechSALisaforbiddenconnectionexceptformodel#
7241,7241Y,8241and8241YintheWrapTechseries.
Connectingtoanyringorstructurethatdoesnotfullycaptivateand
completelyrestrictthemovementyourconnectorisaforbiddenconnection.
Section2:ABCDs
EveryPersonalFallArrestSystemconsistsoffourbasicelementsAnchorage,Body
wear,Connectors/ConnectingDevicesandDecelerationDevices.Eachofthesefour
elementsisdiscussedingreaterdetailbelow.If,afterreadingthoughthissection,you
donotfullyunderstandtheseitemsandhowtheyworktogethertoformacompatible
fallarrestsystem,pleasebesuretohavethisexplainedtoyoubyaCompetentPerson.

Itisabsolutelycriticalthatyoubefamiliarwiththeproperwearand/oruseofeach
componentofyourPersonalFallArrestSystem(PFAS).Failuretoread,understandand
adheretoinstructionalmaterialsandwarningsprovidedwitheachofthesecomponents
couldleadtoacatastrophicfailureofyourPFAS,resultinginseriousinjuryordeath.
2.1:Anchorage
Theselectionofananchorpointandanchorageconnectoriscriticaltothesuccessful
functionofanyPersonalFallArrestSystem(PFAS).OSHA1926.502(d)(15)statesthat:
Anchoragesusedforattachmentofpersonalfallarrestequipmentshallbe
independentofanyanchoragebeingusedtosupportorsuspendplatformsandcapable
ofsupportingatleast5,000pounds(22.2kN)peremployeeattached,orshallbe
designed,installed,andusedasfollows:aspartofacompletepersonalfallarrest
systemwhichmaintainsasafetyfactorofatleasttwo;andunderthesupervisionofa
qualifiedperson.
Ensurethatthestructuretowhichyouareattachingyouranchorageconnectoris
capableofmeetingtheaboverequirementsandthatyouranchorageconnectoris
installedinaccordancewiththemanufacturersinstructions.Alsobesuretocheckthat
theanchorageconnectoriscompatiblewithyourconnectingdevice(lanyard,SRL,
verticallifeline)andthatitsecurelyretainstheconnectingdevicewithoutinhibitingits
function.Ifyouareunabletodeterminewhetheryourconnectingdeviceandyour
anchoragearecompatible,pleaseimmediatelyconsultwithacompetentpersonoryour
immediatesupervisor.Formoredetailsonanchorages,pleaseseesection5ofthis
instructionmanual.
2.2:Bodywear
BodywearforanyapplicationwherethisBeamAnchoristobeusedwillbedefined
asafullbodyharnessspecificallymanufacturedforfallarrest.Ifbeingusedforrestraint
applicationswheretheuserisrestrictedfromreachingafallhazard,abodybeltmaybe
usedasanalternative.Besuretoreadandfollowthemanufacturersinstructions
includedwithyourfullbodyharnessorrestraintbeltatthetimeofpurchase.
2.3:Connectors/ConnectingDevices
ConnectorsandConnectingDevicesaretermsthataresometimesused
interchangeably.Itisimportanttonotethedifferencesbetweenthesetwotermsin
ordertohelpdistinguishthepartsthatthesecomponentsplayintheriggingofyour
PFAS.Inbothcases,theseproducts/componentsarerequiredtohaveaminimumstatic
strengthof5,000lbs.Foradditionaldetailsonrequirementsforconnectorsand
connectingdevices,seeOSHA1926.502atwww.osha.govasreferencedinsection1,
advisory#1.
Aconnectorisanymetallic,mechanicalelementsuchasacarabiner,snaphookor
rebarhookthatphysicallylinksoneormoreelementsofayourPFAStogetherina
mannersuchthattheywillremainengagedtooneanotherunlesstheyareintentionally
disengaged.
Aconnectingdeviceisanelementthatconnectsyourfullbodyharnesstothe
anchorageinanefforttoensurethatyouremainattachedortetheredtothestructure
uponwhichyouareworking.Inotherwords,theconnectingdeviceisthatelement
whichsecuresyoutoyouranchorage.
2.4:DecelerationDevices
AdecelerationdeviceistheelementofaPersonalFallArrestSystem(PFAS)whichis
activatedduringafalleventandreducestheforcesexertedontheusersbodyandon
theanchorageduringthearrestofthefall.InthecaseofShockAbsorbingLanyardsand
SelfRetractingLifelines,theseproductsarebothaconnectingdeviceandadeceleration
deviceastheywillkeepyouattachedtoyouranchorageandwillreducetheforceson
yourbodyintheeventofafall.
2.5:FallArrest
FallArrestisanareaofFallProtectionwhichfocusesonstoppingafallonceithas
occurred.PersonalFallArrestSystemstypicallyconsistofananchorage,afullbody

harnessandaselfretractinglifeline,shockabsorbinglanyardorotherdeceleration
devicedesignedtobringafallingusertoastopintheshortestpossibledistancewhile
limitingtheforceimpartedtotheusersbody.
2.6:FallRestraint
FallRestraintisanareaofFallProtectiondevotedtorestrainingtheuserofthe
systeminamannerwhichrestrictshisorheraccesstothefallhazardinamannersuch
thattheycannotbesubjectedtoafall.AtypicalFallRestraintSystemconsistsofan
anchorage,afullbodyharnessorarestraintbeltandarestraintlanyard.AShock
AbsorbingLanyardoraSelfRetractingLifelineshouldneverbeutilizedinarestraint
applicationasittheynotcapableofrestrictingausersaccesstofallhazards.
2.7:WorkPositioning
WorkPositioningisanareaofFallProtectiondevotedtoallowingausertoworkona
verticalsurfacebymeansofapositioningassembly,andrestrictingtheusersexposure
toafallofnomorethantwofeet.Typicalpositioningassembliesconsistofalargerebar
hookandalengthofchain,rope,wireropeorwebbingwithadoublelockingsnaphook
oneitherend.Thesesnaphooksareattachedtodringsonthehipsoronthewaistof
theusersfullbodyharness,withtherebarhookattachedtothestructureuponwhich
theuserisworking.AnSALoranSRLshouldneverbeusedforworkpositioning,nor
shouldtheyeverbeattachedtoasideorhipdringonafullbodyharness.However,
whileriggedforworkpositioning,theusershouldalwayshaveanSALorSRLattached
tothebackdringoftheirfullbodyharnessandtiedofftothestructureonwhichthey
arepositioningasabackupdevice.
2.8:FreeFall
FreeFallisthedistancethataworkerwillfallbeforetheconnectingdeviceor
decelerationdeviceelementsofthePFASwillbegintoengageduringafallevent.OSHA
allowsamaximumFreeFallDistanceof6(6feet)whenriggingaPersonalFallArrest
System(PFAS).Insomecases,exceptionsmaybeallowedwhenthereisnopractical
waytolimittheFreeFallDistanceto6,suchasajobsitewherenooverheadanchor
pointisavailable.TyingoffinamannerthatwouldcreateaFreeFallgreaterthan6
shouldalwaysbealastresort.Ifyouareriggingasystemthatallowsmorethan6of
FreeFall,makesureyourConnectingDevice/DecelerationDeviceisratedforthis
application.
2.9:ClearFall
ClearFallorClearFallDistanceisthedistancethatisrequiredtosafelyarrestthefall
ofauser.WhenworkingatheightsandusingaPFAS,itisimportanttoconsiderthe
distancebetweenthewalking/workinglevelandthenextlowerleveltoensurethatthe
componentsselectedarecapableofarrestingtheusersfallbeforetheyhitthenext
lowerlevel.TherequiredClearFallDistancecaneasilybecalculatedbyaddingtogether
theFreeFallDistance,theDecelerationDistance,theheightoftheuserplusasafety
factorof2feet.TheformulaforcalculatingClearFallDistanceisshownbelow:

forcalculating.Itisalsonecessarytoconsiderthefallpathwhendeterminingthe
ClearFalllimitationsinyourapplication.Ensurethefallpathisclearofobstructions,
protrusions,equipmentormaterialsthatmaybeahazardintheeventofafall.Pay
specialattentiontothoseitemswhichmaypresentanimpalementhazard.
Obstructionsinthefallpathmaybejustashazardousasthefallitself,andyourPFAS
maynotbeabletoprotectyoufromthesehazards.Failuretoclearthefallpathmay
resultinseriousinjuryordeath.RigyourPFASwithextremecaution,andbeawareof
allofthefactorsthatmaycomeintoplayintheeventofafall.

2.10:SwingFall
SwingFallisthephenomenonthatoccurswhentheuserfallsfromalocationthatis
notdirectlyadjacentto,ordirectlybelowtheanchorageconnector.Thisisalsoreferred
toasthependulumeffect,andcanresultinasituationwheretheuserisnotonly
fallingvertically,butisalsoswingingonthehorizontalaswell.Thiscanbringadditional
hazardsintoplay,asyoumayswingintoanobstructionorstructuralelement,causing
seriousinjuries(seefigure2.2).AsignificantSwingFallmayalsorequireincreased
ClearFalldistance.Asaruleofthumb,youshouldensureworkinanareathatdoesnot
exceedananglegreaterthan15degreesinanydirectionfromyouranchorage.

ThissectiondealswiththegeneraluseandlimitationsofFallTechSlingAnchors.

notaddressed,orifyouhavequestionsregardingyourspecificneeds,pleasecontact
FallTechimmediatelyforadditionalguidance.
3.1:GeneralGuidelines
Whenproperlyinstalledandutilized,thisFallTechSlingAnchorwillprovideasafe
anchorageforasingleuser(theexceptiontothisruleistheWebPassThruAnchor
Slings,whichmaybeincludedasanchorageconnectorswithcertainFallTechHLLKitsfor

WebPassThruSlingAnchors
WebPassThruSlingAnchorsarewebstrapsthathavealargeDringononeendand
asmallerDringontheoppositeend.Thestrapiswrappedaroundaratedstructural

HorizontalLifelineKitsandwithFallTechPSRHorizontalLifelineKits.Ascomponentsof
thiskit,apairof7372Rsmaybeusedonaverticalcolumntoprovidetheanchoragefor
themultiusersystems.TheymaynotbeusedinconjunctionwithanyotherHorizontal
LifelineSystem.SeetheinstructionsfortheFallTechChecklineandPSRSystemsfor
additionaldetails.
NonHorizontalStructuralMembers:FallTechSlingAnchors(particularlyChokersand
ScaffoldChokers)areoftenusedintowerclimbingapplications.Theymayonlybe
attachedtoverticalordiagonallyorientedmembersprovidedthattheyareratedforfall
arrestandthattheSlingAnchorisinstalleddirectlyaboveasupportinghorizontal

Welding/PowerTransmission:MostFallTechWebSlingAnchorsaremanufactured

3.5:SpecialtyApplications
Heavyweight:FallTechSlingAnchorshaveamaximumcapacityof425lbs.Forusers
weighingbetween310and425lbs(withclothing,toolsandequipment),besureto
utilizethisproductalongwithbodywearandconnectingdevicesthatarerated
appropriately(FallTechHeavyweightSALsareblackincolorandaredenotedbymodel
numbersbeginningwith7246or8246).Undernocircumstancesshouldanyuser
weighingmorethan310lbsbesubjectedtomorethansixfeetoffreefall.
Welding/PowerTransmission:FallTechCableSlingAnchorsaremanufacturedusing
materialsthatwillwithstandhightemperatures.Thesemodelsshouldbeinspected
frequentlytoensurethattheyareserviceableandhavenotbeendamagedbywelding
splatteroranelectricalarc.Additionally,Model#s72493FTand72496FTareWebSling
AnchorsthathavebeenmanufacturedusingAramidwebbingandinsulatedhardware
andhavebeentestedinaccordancewiththerequirementsofASTMF887forArcFlash
exposure.

1. SelecttheappropriateFallTechChokerSlingAnchorbasedonthework
conditionsandspecifichazards(SeeSection3.2forrecommendations).
2. Read,understandandcomplywithmanufacturersinstructionsforeach
componentofyourPersonalFallArrestSystem(FullBodyHarness,Connecting
Devices,AnchorageConnectors,etc.).Besuretochoosecomponentsthatare
compatiblewiththisChokerSlingAnchor.Ifyouhavequestionsabout
productorcomponentcompatibility,besuretocontactFallTechforadditional
instructions.
3. Calculatepossibleswingfallhazards,totalfalldistance,andrequired
clearancedistance.Ifyouhaveaswingfallhazardordonothavetherequired
clearancedistance,STOPandreevaluateyourapplicationandsystem.Your
worklocationshouldneverexceedanangleof15degreesinanydirectionin
relationtoyouranchoragelocation.
4. InspectthisChokerSlingAnchor,andallcomponentsofyourPersonalFall
ArrestSysteminaccordancewithSection8ofthismanual.Besuretoconsult,

orvertical,theChokerSlingAnchormustbepositionednexttoastopwhich
willpreventtheChokerSlingAnchorfromslidingormovingintheeventofafall.
12. Ifyouaretiedoffatthefootlevel,orinamannerthatwillallowmorethansix
feetoffreefall,ensurethatyourconnectingdeviceisratedforextendedfree
falls.Alsoensurethatthegateofyourcarabinerorsnaphookwhichis
attachedtotheChokerSlingAnchordoesnotmakedirectcontactwiththe
edgeofthestructuralmemberoranyotherobstruction.Suchcontactcould
forcearolloutoraccidentaldisengagement.Ifindoubt,youmayusea

selectedmustlimitthefalldistanceinordertoavoidcontactwiththenext
lowerlevelintheeventofafall.
Anchorageconnectorsshouldbeselectedonthebasisoftheirsuitabilityfor
attachmenttotheanchorpointtoensureacompatibleandsecure
connection.
Theexposureoftheanchorageconnectortosharpedges,abrasivesurfaces
andotherphysical/structuralhazardsshouldbeconsideredwhenevaluating
compatibility.
Thecompetentpersonshallcalculatetheweightofallauthorizedpersons
whenfullyequippedtoensurethattheyarewithinthemaximumcapacityof
thePFAS.
AfullbodyharnessmeetingtherequirementsofZ359shallbeselected,andit
shallbesizedtofittheuserasperthemanufacturersinstructions.
Connectorsthatareselectedshallbesuitablysizedandshapedsoastobe
compatiblewiththedevicestowhichtheywillbeattached.
Thecompetentpersonshallselectthemethodofprotectingtheequipment
fromdamagebyworkplaceconditions,inaccordancewiththemanufacturers
instructions.
Thecompetentpersonshallchecktheequipmentinstructionsandmarkingsto
ensurecompliancewiththeappropriatestandardsandwillensurethat
manufacturersinstructions;markingsandwarningsarereadandfollowed.
IfthePFASthatisselectedismadeupofcomponentsfromdifferent
manufacturers,thecompetentpersonwillensurethatthesecomponentsare
compatible.

Section5:AnchorageConsiderations
OSHA1910.66and1926.502statethatanchoragesusedforattachmentofaPFAS
mustbeindependentofanyanchoragebeingusedtosupportorsuspendplatforms,and
mustsupportatleast5,000lbs.peruserattached,orbedesigned,installedandusedas
partofacompletePFASwhichmaintainsasafetyfactorofatleasttwo,andis
supervisedbyaqualifiedperson(architect,structuralengineer,etc.).
TheanchorpointtowhichthisBeamAnchorisattachedmustcapableofsustaining
staticloadsindirectionsappliedbythepersonalfallarrestsystemofatleast3,600lbs
(oratleasttwicetheexpecteddynamicload)withcertificationofaqualifiedperson
(architect,structuralengineer,etc.),or5,000lbsintheabsenceofcertification.If
multiplepersonalfallarrestsystemsarebeingattachedtothesameanchorage,the
minimumvaluesstatedabovemustbemultipliedbythenumberofusers.
EnsurethatthisSlingAnchoriscompatiblewiththeanchorpointtowhichyouare
attachingit.BesurethatthisBeamAnchoriscompatiblewithotherelementsofyour

6.2:UserTraining

theseinstructionsbeforeemployingthisproductaspartofaPersonalFallArrestSystem
(PFAS).Everyuseroffallprotectionshouldbeprovidedafourtoeighthourcourseof

7.3:SuspensionTrauma
SuspensionTrauma(alsoreferredtoasorthostaticintolerance)isaconditionthat
canarisefrombeingsuspendedinafullbodyharnessforaprolongedperiodoftime
whileawaitingrescueafterafall.Underthesecircumstances,bloodcirculationcanbe
restrictedallowingalargevolumeofbloodtoaccumulateorpoolintheveinsofthe
workerslegs.Thisconditioncanresultinavarietyofsymptoms,someofwhichinclude
lightheadedness,lossofconsciousness,difficultyconcentratingandpalpitations.
Followingarescue,SuspensionTraumacanbesoacuteastocausecardiacarrest
whenthelargevolumeofunoxygenatedbloodoverwhelmstheheart.Thisseverityof
thisconditioncanbegreatlyreducedbyusinganyoneofavarietyofdevicesofferedto
alleviateSuspensionTrauma,suchasFallTechsReliefPakandbyprovidingaprompt
rescueintheeventofafall.

Inspectionisacriticalelementintheemploymentofanyfallprotectionequipment.
InordertoprotectAuthorizedPersonswhoareusingthisSlingAnchor,itisimportant
thattheemployerestablishesproceduresthathaslayersofinspectiontoensurethat
anymechanicalorfunctionaldeficienciesarerecognizedbeforetheproductisputinto
use.
8.1:Issuing
IftheSlingAnchoristobekeptinalockerortoolcribbetweenperiodsofuse,the
personresponsibleshouldinspecttheproductuponissuingandreceipttoensurethatit
isinproperworkingorder.Ifanydeficiencyisnoted,thisshouldbeloggedonthe

inspectionrecordandtheproductshouldberemovedfromserviceandhandledin
accordancewiththeemployerslockout/tagoutpolicy.IfthisSlingAnchorexhibitsa

8.2:Daily/IncidentalUse

2004)specificallyrequirethattheuserinspectallfallprotectionequipmentpriorto
eachusetoensureproperfunctionandtoensurethattheequipmentisinserviceable
condition.Failuretodosomayresultinseriousinjuryordeath.
FallTechrequiresthatthefollowingstepsbetakenduringeachinspectionpriorto
useofthisSlingAnchor:
1. CheckforanydamagetotheSlingAnchor.Inspectallmetalpartsforcracking,
bending,dents,burrsordeformationofanykind.Ensurethatthereareno
missingparts.Ifanyoftheseconditionsexist,removefromservice
immediatelyandreplace.
2. Inspectallmetalsurfacesforevidenceofexcessivecorrosion.Lightsurface
corrosionshouldberemovedwithsteelwool.Ifexcessivecorrosionexists,
removefromserviceimmediatelyandreplace.
3. InspecttheSlingAnchorforbuildupofanysurfacecontaminationsuchas
paint,grease,oil,dirtoranyotherforeignsubstancewhichmayinhibitthe
operationofanymechanicalpartsorwhichmayconcealdamageorinhibitthe
performanceoftheproduct.
4. Checkthefunctionofanyandallmechanicalpartssuchascarabinersorsnap
hooks.Anyoftheseelementsshouldbecapableofbeingoperatedand
shouldcloseandlockautomatically.Ifthereisanymechanicaldeficiency,
immediatelyremovethisSlingAnchorfromserviceandhaveitreplaced.
5. Inspectanywebbingcomponentsforcuts,tears,holes,burns,frayingor
damagefromabrasion.Ifanyoftheseconditionsexist,removethisSling
Anchorfromserviceimmediatelyandhaveitreplaced.
6. ForWebSlingAnchors,checkthestitchingforanymissingstitching,tearsor
damage.
7. ForWebSlingAnchors,checkwearpadsorplasticrollersforexcessivewear.
Iftheseelementsaredamagedormissing,removethisproductfromservice
immediatelyandhaveitreplaced.
8. Inspectanycablecomponentsandconnectingelementsforfraying,damage
fromabrasion,cuts,kinks,burrsorloosewire.Checkforburnsorevidenceof
damagefromanelectricarc.Checkfordamagefromcorrosion.
9. Inspectthelabelsandensurethattheyarepresentorlegible.Refamiliarize
yourselfwithanywarningsorinstructiononthelabels.Ifthelabelsare
missingorillegible,removetheSlingAnchorfromserviceandhaveitreplaced.
10. TheresultsofsemiannualCompetentPersoninspectionsshouldberecorded
insection8.3ofthismanual.
11. IfthisBeamAnchorfailsanypartofthisinspectionorifithasbeenusedto
arrestafall,besuretoremoveitfromserviceimmediatelyandhaveit

contracadasdeberecibiruncursodeinstruccindecuatroaochohorasparael
Usuarioautorizado.Tambinsedebeproporcionarcapacitacinsobreelusodecada
unodeloscomponentesdelPFASdelusuarioysobreelreconocimientodepeligrosde
cadas.Duranteeldesarrollodeestacapacitacin,elusuarionopuedeestarexpuestoa

7.3:Traumaporsuspensin
Eltraumaporsuspensin(tambinconocidocomointoleranciaortosttica)esuna
afeccinquepuedesurgirdesersuspendidodeunarnsdecuerpocompletodurante
unperodoprolongadomientrasesperaporelrescatedespusdeunacada.Enestas
circunstancias,puedequedarrestringidalacirculacindelasangre,locualcausaquese
acumuleoestanqueunagrancantidaddesangreenlasvenasdelaspiernasdel
trabajador.Estaafeccinpuederesultarenunavariedaddesntomas,entreloscuales
seincluyen:mareo,prdidadelaconciencia,dificultadparaconcentrarsey
palpitaciones.
Despusdeunrescate,eltraumaporsuspensinpuedesertangravecomopara
ocasionarunparocardacocuandoelgranvolumendesangrenooxigenadaafectaal
corazn.Lagravedaddeestaafeccinsepuedereducirengranmedidamedianteel

1. VerifiquesihayalgndaoenelAnclajeconeslinga.Inspeccionetodaslaspiezas
