QUESTION 5

What are the different classroom computer setups?

Computers in classrooms include any digital technology used to enhance, or to

replace a traditional educational curriculum. As computers have become more
accessible, cheap, and powerful, the demand for this technology has increased, leading
to more frequent use of computer resources within classes, and a decrease in the
student-to-computer ratio within schools.

Classroom setups are divided into three main areas. The first one is onecomputer classroom. This classroom setup emphasize on using laptop / i-pad in
classroom. Normally one-computer classroom usually considered to use not more than
one computer in the classroom. Many teachers in one-computer classroom project the
computer screen onto a larger screen that the entire class can see. However using only
a computer in classroom creates more hassle more than excitement in pupils.

On the other hand, computer labs are another classroom computer setup. Unlike
one-computer classroom setup computer labs have enough machines for each student.
This means students dont have to fight each other to use computer. Conversely since
labs are separate from the classroom, they are not immediately available and are often
shares among many classes.

Another classroom computer setup is multi-computer classroom. Having multiple

computers in classroom gives more opportunity to integrate technology into classroom
and teaching. The multi-computer classroom often considered to have 3 or more
computers. Several computers in classroom allows students to get in to small group of 3
or 5 to share computer. It allows teachers to use computers in many different ways
simultaneously (e.g. as a mat center, s a writing tool, in a science experiment)

QUESTION 6
What is the difference between a computer lab setting and a wireless laptop cart?

Computers are used to perform various tasks in classroom and they tend to
simplify the way pupil learns. Pupils use computers to learn how to write because they
have word processing application which enables pupil to take note to write article for
academic purpose in the classroom. A word processing application comes with auto
correct functions which can help a student improve on their vocabulary. Therefore
teachers prefer using computer in teaching to help pupil improve. There are two main
ways which teacher can integrate computers in teaching. One of the way are by taking
pupils into the computer lab and another way is using laptop cart in classroom

Teaching pupils in computer labs help ensure that all pupils have access to
computers. The computer lab puts each pupil on an equal level and ensures that no
pupil has an easier assignment because of the technology of his own. However
computer labs in school are often supervised by only one or two teacher, allowing pupil t
have too much freedom in the computer lab. They may ruin the computers or visit
inappropriate websites. Computer labs also can pose a distraction for teachers who are
trying to use the computers as a supplement to rest of the lesson that does not involve
the computer.

On the other hand using laptop carts in classroom helps teacher to save more
time because pupils doesnt need to go out and find a computer to integrate in their
learning lessons. Moreover teacher can tell pupils to create study group and create a
interactive environment using lapto carts because teacher can move with the laptop and
it would drag pupils attention more to the lesson taught by the teacher.
