List of OLED Lamps
List of OLED Lamps
White OLED panels are starting to appear - and this page lists all available OLED lamps that
use OLED panels from OSRAM, Philips, Blackbody and others.
Early Future
OLED lamps
Early Future was the world's first OLED lighting product. It's a table lamp that has 10 OLED
panels. The OLEDs are made by OSRAM, and the lamp was designed by lighting designer Ingo
Maurer. The OLEDs achieve a luminance of 1,000 cd/m2, 2,000 hours of lifetime and an efficiency
of 20 lm/W.

Philips Edge
The Edge is an OLED lamp made by Philips (using their Lumiblade OLED panels), developed in
collaboration with Established & Sons (Amanda Levete). According to Philips: "The EDGE is a flat
ribbon of steel twisted into a self-supporting form. A groove is then cut into the steel, off center,
to allow the cable to be expressed and to exaggerate the movement of the piece. With this
project, Amanda Levete has succeeded in revealing the wafer-thin essence of OLEDs and
creating a light that is completely reductive in its simplicity".
Philips O'Leaf
The O'Leaf is an OLED lamp by Philips that was developed in collaboration with Modular Lighting
Instruments. In O'Leaf, the form of the fixture is based on the organic shapes. It can be used as
a table-lamp (shown below) or fixed on the wall.
Blackbody MGR
The MGR is an OLED lamp by Blackbody. It uses 48 white and 24 red OLEDs. The overall active
OLED area is 6.480cm, and the lamp fills a volume of 2.90m x 0.85m x 0.70m. It is actually a
chandelier, hung from the ceiling:
The MGR was designed by Bruno Lefebvre. Here's how he describes his design: MGR is an OLED
banner, an expression of Blackbody. This new language of light, gives us building blocks to
conceive simple or complex, white and colored light compositions. The arrangement in the three
axes XYZ of one single module reminds of the L40 iconic masterpiece from the 1920s,
designed by Gerrit Rietveld, functional and cultural origins of the MGR. We have named our
creation MGR (Merci Gerrit Rietveld) to thank our fathers, like Gilles Derain and other famous
lamp designers did in the past.

Blackbody 6"O"
The 6"O" is an OLED lamp from Blackbody with an active area of 540cm2, color temperature of
3200 K, 26W power consumption and it weights 5.5Kg : "Providing both linear and surface
illumination, this light bridge creates an enlightened area free of shadows and glare. This
virtually tamed lighting offers both direct illumination whilst simultaneously bathing the
surrounding area in a halo of soft light.
The Sepal Chandelier is an OLED lamp by Blackbody. It has a 270 cm2 active area with white and
red OLEDs. It consumes 13W and weights 2.5Kg. "Playing on repetition, we have created a new
three-dimensional module founded on simple or multiple compositions of white or coloured light,
that can take on a variety of different forms: sepal, chandelier, lampadaire or bouquet. The
SEPAL series, thanks to OLED technology, reinterprets the XYZ spacial construction invented by
Gerrit Rietveld in 1920 with his L40 suspension model."
D Signed Lamped
Lamped is a customizable OLED lamp by D Signed, the Serbian design studio. The lamp uses
OLED tiles that are joined with "ball joints" so you can move it all directions - and use it as a
floor lamp, hanging lamp, desktop light, etc.
The OLED panels are made by the Fraunhofer Institute and are 106x50mm in size, with a
91.6x41.6mm active area. The brightness is 1000 cd/m2, the color is 2900K (soft white). On the
foot of the lamp (that is made of molded stainless steel and is heavier than the rest of the lamp)
there are dimmer controls.

OSRAM PirOLED
The PirOLED uses both LED and OLED lighting: 5 ORBEOS OLED panels and 5 LED lamps
(OSRAM OSLON LCW CP7P). Light intensity is up to 300 Lux.
Blackbody Samothrace
Blackbody's Samothrace is an OLED lamp, sculpture and "modern figurehead" designed by
Bertrand Mdas from ID'S. It's a silver plated monolith that has an OLED lighting-device on top.
It has a 154cm2 OLED surface in total and the whole thing is battery operated. Blackbody says
that the batteries last for 8 hours (and charge within an hour and a half).
The basic building block is a square that contains either one circular ORBEOS OLED panel or four
LEDs. The square block is about 5 square inches in size (and less than 1/8 of an inch thick).

OSRAM Airabesc
The Airabesc is an OLED/LED hybrid lamp. Here's how OSRAM describe the design: "As if
modeled by the wind ('Air'), the elements of the reduced, symmetrical aluminum form seem to
be floating in the air. Despite the structures flowing lightness and harmony which are inspired by
the arabesque, a ballet position, the biomorphic shape casts its spell on the observer".
The Airabesc is hand-made from premium materials in Germany and provides warm atmospheric
light. The lamp length is 81cm, the width is 30cm and the height is 10cm. It contains 11
ORBEOS (RMW-046) rectangle panels and 6 LEDs (OSLON LCW CQ7P.CC). The power
consumption is about 16W. The lamp comes in black, white or polished aluminum. It will be
shipping in July 2011 (no pricing info yet).

The lamp measure 146x100x18.5mm (at the thickest part) and weight 180g without the
batteries. There are no details about the OLED panel itself, which is made by Toshiba. We only
know that lamp brightness is 53 lm (similar to a desk lamp) with 100% brightness, it can be
dimmed to 30% or 10%.

multimodule arrangement, for example the ENVOL seen below:
The Helix consumes 15W, it weights 1.2Kg and has a total active area of 420cm2. The color
temperature is 3200K and the CRI is 80. Here's a nice PDF showing more photos and details
about this new lamp.
