This medication
is a barbiturate

surgery. It
inhibits painful

depressing brain
activity.
Hypersensitivity to
methohexital

encephalopathy;
intraarterial
administration;
shock, heart
failure, PVD,
severe hypo- and
hypertension,
respiratory

convulsions in

Nursing
responsibilities
--Hiccups are
common,
particularly with
rapid injection;
they sometimes
persist after
anesthesia.

available in the
event of
respiratory
distress.
