AAA Wenner-Gren Panels


Funded for Second Year
The American Anthropological Association is pleased to announce that the
AAA Anthropology of Public Issues
Panels received a grant for $32.500 from
the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research for a second year
of activities. This is a renewal of an ini-

tial grant that funded threc meetings of

two panels. The panels. one o n Disorders in Industrial and Postindustrial Societies. and the other on Sociocultural
Transformation and its Difticulties in
Preindustrial and Industrializing Societies. have focused o n enlarging anthropology's role in contemporary society
and improving its ability to detine. analyze and ameliorate social problems. Future aims include developing projects focused on specific social problems and
publishing for special and general publics outside anthropology.
