Important information:
All music students are required to take two credits of ensemble each semester.
At least one of those credits must be on your primary instrument or voice.
All students may audition for any combination of ensembles as long as it fulfills their major
requirements.
Please arrive at your audition 15 minutes early with your tuned instrument (if applicable).

Students should prepare one solo and be ready to sight-read.

Studio Orchestra / Jazz/Rock Big Band / Small Jazz and Jazz Lab Ensembles

Be prepared to perform a jazz standard and improvise if possible. An amp and drum set will be available in
the audition room.
Auditions for all jazz ensembles will take place during this time slot. You will inform the panel which
ensemble(s) you are interested in placing into at the audition.
Note: Jazz/Rock Big Band does not fulfill ensemble requirements for students enrolled prior to Fall 2013.

Mixed Chamber Ensemble / Electric and Classical Guitar Ensembles

All students who are not otherwise auditioning for a two-credit ensemble must audition for Mixed Chamber
Ensemble. A meeting is required for all students interested in Mixed Chamber.
Optional auditions for Electric and Classical Guitar Ensemble will occur following the Mixed Chamber
meeting. Prepare one piece for this audition.
