The Scopus Author Identifier feature allows researchers to accurately distinguish between
publications written by people with similar names. They assign a unique Author ID to each
author, assembling affiliations and publications based on the content of indexed articles and
author feedback. UTHM uses the Scopus database for the purpose of university ranking and
performance monitoring. UTHM academicians use Scopus to alert them to new publications that
cite their own, as well as observing their h-index. Authors can verify and correct their Scopus
profiles to improve accuracy.
Next, more details for each way is presented.
A. Web: Use Scopus web-based author feedback wizard
Merge Author Profiles and Affiliations in Scopus
When an author's works are added to the Scopus database, an author profile is created. The
profile includes the author's name, a Scopus author identification number (Author ID), citation
statistics, subject areas in which the author is publishing, and the author's publication and
affiliation history.
Scopus attempts to ensure accuracy in author identification by creating a new profile if an
author's name, subject areas, affiliation, or co-authors change, an approach that may result in
multiple profiles. To simplify author identification, authors and institutions may request that
multiple profiles be merged. Follow these steps to submit a request:
1) Go to: http://www.scopusfeedback.com/
2) Conduct an Author Search.
3) Select the author entries to merge by clicking the box to the left of each name. (Click the
'Details' link, if available, for more information on an author, including the Author ID.)
4) Review document
5) Review profile

4) To change authors affiliation into the recent one
Send an email to scopusauthorfeedback@elsevier.com

Body of email:
Please change the authors affiliation into the recent one.
Name XXXXXXXX, Author-ID XXXXXXXXX
My recent affiliation is Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. Please associate this recent
affiliation to my author-ID XXXXXXXXX.
Note:
This is applicable if your affiliation is not your current one, especially after all your profiles have
been merged into a single author ID (even though your latest publication indexed in Scopus
database already using the current affiliation i.e., the requested affiliation to be associated with
your current single author ID/profile). This is because, to determine which author names should
be grouped together under a single identifier number, the Scopus Author Identifier uses an
algorithm that matches author names based on their affiliation, address, subject area, source title,
dates of publication, citations, and co-authors. This can lead the determination process to the
previous affiliation of the author, rather than the current one. Also, please ensure that the
affiliation name is already/commonly being used in SCOPUS. Also note that, by default, only
details pages matched to more than one document in Scopus are shown in search results.
*Scopus will correct the author affiliation in six weeks or less (the response will be emailed to you).
