Reciting a poem, interpreting a poem
Listen to, read, view and respond to literary works by explaining the message that
the writer is trying to convey and discussing how this relates to ones life
Level 1: Reciting a poem with feelings and expression
Students have been instructed to read the poem at home
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a State at least 3 images that represent LEISURE as stated in the poem
Respect and cooperation
Learning and appreciating the beauty of a nature
Multiple Intelligence: Social Interaction
Chalk, blackboard, dictionary, a collection of poems and short stories textbook
Questioning, discussion in groups
T introduces herself and informs ss on the topic of the day. T makes sure that ss
are prepared with textbooks and exercise books.
1 T calls upon few ss for poem recital in front of the class. Ss are to be quiet
and attentive
2 Next, T explains the poem by its stanza. Ss are required to look up words
that are unfamiliar
3 Ss are given 1 exercise that focuses on the literal and figurative meaning of
the poem
4 T monitors ss progress and T only chips in whenever necessary. SS are
given 10 minutes to finish the task and to hand in exercise books
T gives feedback about todays activity. T conducts 3 Qns to test ss understanding
